I don’t know if the translation is accurate, but if it is, then this is very disconcerting and unfortunate. The poll on AlJazeera arabic currently shows that more than 81% support ISIS. I can not fathom how anyone can support a pro-sexual slavery and pro-genocide agenda.

Sadly many of the Arabic readers of AlJazeera seem to support such notions and don’t mind such people advancing and committing these atrocities in Iraq and Syria.
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
Most important would be where the majority of the respondents came from? Are they from Iraq, Syria, Yemen and other troubled countries or those who have not had anything to do with violence/ISIS etc?
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
Lets assume that the respondents are from around the Arabian peninsula, not necessarily from Iraq, Syria and Yemen. Isn’t it still disconcerting that such a large percentage of AlJazeera readers seem to support ISIS’ advance in Syria and Iraq? Surely everyone knows what ISIS stands for by now.
Ok to support violence and atrocities as long as you are not the victim? Doesn’t sound right to me. But perhaps they justify it with ISIS being “islamic”?
The question beckons, why do ISIS seemingly have such support among Arabs?
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
^^I’m sure Islamic ‘identity’ issues have a lot to do with it.. They’re not smart enough to realise either that when ISIS has finished butchering Shias, Christians and others (Why is there such a divide between Sunnis, Shias and other religious groups anyway? Why does there need to be that hostility?) they’ll most likely go after these same people who’ll realise too late that they’re aren’t their ‘brothers’ in Islam..
Muslims are far too divided and intolerant.. then there’s a lack of education, high unemployment and poverty and it all spirals out of control.. I wish it could be made compulsory to teach basic principles such as kindness and tolerance alongside just memorising the Qur’an as well.. Far too many Muslims have a very warped twisted view and at the rate things are developing there could be potentially millions of children brought up with an ISIS type ideology..
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
The first part may be true. But I don’t see how one can be “sure” that is the case here. If it was fixed, I would think someone who is poll savvy wouod have discredited this poll.
Maybe, just maybe, support for ISIS is dangerously high in that region?
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
Of course online polls can always be prone to being fixed. But in that case, AlJazeera (being arabic) should take at least some basic measures to prevent it from being massively fixed. Which I will assume they have.
But if indeed ISIS do have such widespread support among Arabs, then its very saddening and should be a wake up call for muslim scholars, who need to unequivocally condemn ISIS’ atrocities and unequivocally refute any claims they make of their atrocities having basis in Islam. Over and over again, until the message gets across.
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
what does it mean ‘support the organizing victories’? Even if it comes to something coherent, statistically you can prove pretty much anything. And online polls like this are even worse. There is no way of knowing the sampling error. For all we know, it could be ±81%
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
That’s important, there was a large support in Pakistan for groups like Taliban before they started hitting us. It’s all good when groups like these operate elsewhere, if the support is coming from troubled areas that’s more concerning.
Re: AlJazeera poll, over 81% support ISIS advance in Iraq/Syria
Support coming from non troubled area is equally concerning. I don’t quite understand why it would be more concerning of support came from troubled areas. If anything folks in that area may vote their support out of fear.
On another note, some have expressed concerns re unreliability of this poll. AL Jazee is a reputed news agency. It is concerning some dismiss this poll as unreliable. As opposed to being concerned about the really bad results of the poll.
