To say that debates in PA forum can be heated is an understatement. All the more reason for a Moderator to keep his cool. There is none better at doing so than Ali_Syed.
You can disagree with him or not, he treats you the same. He diffuses situations without coming across as a power wielding authority figure. Treats forum members and Mods alike. Doesn’t silence dissenting and minority voices.
While Ali_Syed can hold his own in a debate with logic backed by data, his success is not a reflection of how many debating points he won. It is a reflection of his professional and fair approach.
I wonder how the mods manage to keep cool there in PA :D
There are obvious trolls and when a mod takes any action to limit trolling, he/she is instantly accused of bias. Pretty tough job, I would say.
It becomes really difficult at times, being mods we have to control ourselves which I think some people don't realize. We (all mods/CMs) want and strive to provide a good and level playing environment to all participants of the forum.

He's a credit to the team. PA/WA is not easy to moderate as we have to maintain a constant balance act, but Ali and all his co-Mods as well do a fantastic job.
Ali_syed is one of the best mods, not just in Society team but all over because of his tolerant attitude, insightful posts and objective posts without any party bias. Its very commendable. I dont think I have ever seen him get riled up even though these are some difficult forums. Keep it up brother! :k:
The only reason I remain a occasional poster here is because of Ali.. otherwise it has become quite difficult to remain a poster with liberal views on GS. Had it not been Ali.. this forum would become a jihadi forum with terrorist links. I can see the regular liberal posters are slowly disappearing from here and new breed of internet mullahs are slowly taking over the forum. Any way it seems most of the new team is content with changing profile of regular posters..
In one of the previous feed back threads I saw the whole new team taking on Shamraz.. Shamraz served this forum for years and was instrumental in shaping the matured discussion atmosphere here. I have all the praise-respect for Shamraz and Lusi prior to Shamraz.
It is disgusting to note the comments of one of the important members of the new team that as most of the Pakistanis are muslims with a religious mentality.. somehow the posters from this mentality have to be protected. No meaningful discussion can take place with this mentality. Let the people from diverse views make their point of view and let the readers decide who is making sense.
Any way.. I wish good luck to the new team.. Ali seems to be the last neutral guy who appreciates diverse opinion on this forum.. and I can imagine how challenging it has become for Ali who still follows the unsaid rule we had between us the moderators.. and the rule was to express your opinions freely but when it comes to moderation remain totally neutral. I guess editing people's opinion which is not against forum rules and are not insulting for anyone.. just on the basis that these opinions do not reconcile with the opinions of some new team members is simply disgusting. I am not aware of such deletion-editing personally.. but to see a lot of people now complaining these moderation action is not exactly this forum stood for not a very long time ago.
P.S. I have expressed my opinion only because I am a well wisher of the forum. I think Shamraz's comments also should have been taken in the same spirit.. If the new team does not like our opinion and are very happy with the new orientation of this forum.. I wish them best of luck..!!!
^ thanks bro for your comments. I personally find your posts very insightful, and have always learnt from them. I value your input and suggestions. During the past few years I am observing that the gulf between right and left is growing in the country (crushing the ones in between) and that is being observed on the forum as well, and its becoming a challenge to strike a balance. It's important to get the dialogue going between all segments of the society as that is instrumental in removing the grievances with each other.
