The major difference is that those things you listed are necessities in life–going to grocery stores, buying gas, travelling via air for work/to visit family–whereas going to a restaurant is NOT a necessity. And most of hte people here have said they would go only if it was work related and htey had no say in the matter.
There’s far worse examples of hypocrisy, not drinking alcohol is not one of htem.
