A few of my friends (muslims) and i went out to dinner. One of my friends objected to going to a certain restaurant as they serve alcohol. i was quite taken aback at this. as i think if you don’t drink while you are there is an issue
As a muslim what are peoples view of this? does alcohol being served in a restaurant stop you from going? do you socialise in bars/pubs/clubs? is it a big deal? is it something that needs to be accepted nowadays that alcohol will be present whereever we go out?
Without going into the discussion of if its right or wrong, I personally don't dine at restaurants who have ham or alcohol on the menu unless its a business meeting/dinner/lunch that I have to attend and I have very little say in choice of restaurant.

I dont go to restaurants if they claim that they are halal but serving alcohol also (matter of trust of their claim) .. but we do go to TGI Friday, Red Robins, Olive Gardens and many where we eat veg or fish and dont care about them serving Alcohol.
See we do go to our supermarkets to buy fruits and egg and milk. They do have a wine and beer section. We dont care right. A restaurant serving alcohol is the same thing, I guess.
^ are not you sick and tired of people asking in Life1 for if its ok to kick their MILs out of the house or to flirt while married. This is quite refreshing man.

can i ask why?

would love your thoughts on ths
Well, socializing in a bar/club is different than going to a restaurant where alcohol may be served.
Without going into the discussion of if its right or wrong, I personally don't dine at restaurants who have ham or alcohol on the menu unless its a business meeting/dinner/lunch that I have to attend and I have very little say in choice of restaurant.
I'm not sure about the alcohol but I'm pretty sure that with places that serve pork, there's the chance that the pork may have come in contact with cooking utensils/cooking oil/other food etc.
it's especially typical during breakfast hours, where ham/bacon/sausage is cooked alongside with eggs....
can i ask why?

Yar I'm sick if entire life1 but was just checking if the moderators are on strike today, not to move this thread to "all views" to make some room for more MILs' threads..
If you live in the west, it's culturally accepted here to drink. I don't get why people choose to live in Europe or North America and then take issue with stuff like that. Yes it's around you, just don't do it. If you can't stand being around it, move to a place where you're more comfortable (Pakistan etc).
Almost all restaurants serve some type of alcohol, so yes I have been to restaurants where alcohol is served but I do not socialize in pubs/bars/clubs but I am OK with going to a restaurant that has a small bar area
Why didnt anyone mention about the people flying from Pak via international airlines and as the aircraft takes off they order beer/wine/alcohol and enjoy drinking. But when it comes to food they dont forget to ask “Only Halaal Plzzzzz”
most of the diners and 24 hours restaurants do not serve any kind of alcohol, none of the fast food restaurants serve alcohol.
true.......but I was more thinking along the lines of a sit down, waiter, tip type restaurant not fast food......heck even Round Table Pizza serves beer.....
personally i don't care if a restaurant sells alcohol or not. i've been to some restaurants that do not sell alcohol but they allow diners to bring their own with them. again this does not bother me one bit. i had a similar experience with a friend who refused to go to a restaurant that served alcohol... didn't really understand why though since she had no problem eating at other restaurants that served non halal meat and pork.
