I actually recently researched about it and learned that it really is better to stay away from restaurants that sell alcohol. Its also something my father would never do but I didn’t looked into until recently. This thread is making me laugh because when my husband first told me about it, I used every single one of these excuses that people here are using but when you really look deep inside with taqwa you automatically know what is better. I always avoided for staying or holding events at hotels that also have a casino because I dont want my halal income to go to a haram business or a business that is disliked in the eyes of Allah. Im going to use a cliche but its true. This world is like a field of roses filled with thorns, you have to make sure you stay away from the thorns and come out of that field unharmed. Its about staying away from just another bad thing. And inshAllah Allah will reward us for our sabr, for your taqwa. It might not even be an issue of what is haram what is halal but it is an issue of what is better and we all know in our hearts it is better to stay as far away from these evils as possible. For those of us who live in the west, we see the consequences of the haram things unfold each and every day. We should be even more careful than others.
You should avoid it where possible. Going to a restaurant that serves alcohol is not a need, going to a grocery to get your everyday groceries is a need. If I have a store owned by a Muslim who doesn’t sell alcohol I would shop there over Meijers any day.
LOL you are funny if you only knew what kind of stuff they have in Pakistan. People who want to drink will do it in Mekkah if they have to. Anyways the point is not that we are stopping “westerners” from drinking, we are talking about ourselves. What we like it to do and in this particular situation we do not like to eat with people who drink because of traditions of Prophet Muhammad pbuh.

And its not about it being offensive. Its about principle. Why should I sit there and watch other people do what I know is haram? It is the whole atmosphere as well.
I want to ask each one of you a question. Why would you want to be in a place which sells something that was despised by the Prophet(pbuh) and Allah?
