Re: Alcohol at restaurants…
I first noticed this when I was 8 years old! A baba figure took a glass of whiskey from the hostress. I’d never witnessed that before.
On Turkish Airlines they do not serve pork products, however do serve alcohol. You get this little compliment slip with the food saying ‘our meals are in accordance to a Halal diet’. I opted for pasta and tomato sauce, the chicken looked a bit too raw.
Hats off to those who manage to avoid places that sell alcohol and pork whilst dining out. I’m addicted to Pizza Hut and Frankie and Benny’s-both of which sell both items. We generally go there for lunch. Our local KFC is now halal-as far as I know bacon is no longer on any of the items. Truthfully though I had no idea bacon ever was on the menu there…
There’s one place in Manchester where I go whereby everything is halal-no alcohol or pork. I love that place.
I’d never walk into a place and ask if the menu was halal, I’d expect myself to investigate before going in. If in doubt, order the veggie or fish option and ask what sauce is being used (I noticed wine sauces seem to be favoured around Christmas).
