The reason for alcohol is simple. Anything that intoxicates the mind (such as alcohol, and drugs) are forbidden.

As for the pig, it is considered a filthy animal. The food is unhealthy, filled with cholestrol, I think. Also, the way this animal acts in life is also filthy (i.e. its eating habits & lifestyle). Not to mention, this probably is the only animal I know which indulges in polyandry (meaning when one female gets horny, multiple males can come over & give her a banging for reproduction).
By the way, polyandry is also prohibited in Islam.

how charecter of the animal we eat will be passed on so if we eat tiger we become like tiger or we eat human we become more human?

Cynical? I'm not the one who finds a hundred reasons to not do something to justify religious edicts. I am just saying the meat is no worse for you (and sometimes healthier) than other meats and it tastes and smells delicious for those who choose to eat it. I am NOT denying they are filthy animals.

Not the way pigs are raised in North America. I have been to a pig farm in Quebec and the pigs were cleaner than a large percentage of Guppies. They were not fed **** either. They were eating potatoes, grain and all kinds of good stuff that people back home would love to eat. Pigs being unlcean may be true in India/Pakistan, it is not even 1% true in Canada and US.

That is simply not true. I have a friend that raises hogs. They have to wallow in damp mud, he says. There is no way to keep them from defecating in it and then eating it.

ur right just ignore shaollow ppl i think wats happenin here is that these guys just go on a defensiv with out thinkin abt it. the reason why pig is haraam is allah has oderd us not to eat it hence if we did eat eat it wud be harraam for us. infact if u look in to this u will find the first ppl who came with the theory why muslims dont eat pig u will find it was the none muslims who came up this sayin that the reasons why muslims do not eat pig is cuz it was very dirty anmial in prihistoric times they said this in oder to prove that islam is a man made rlgn and the quran is not the word of god.
end of the day pig meat is that much dfrnt than anyother meat cows, e.c.t.
end the day we blv allah is the one created us and if oder,s us stay away from somthing then he knows best plus the fact allah has never said the pig is a dirty animal.

Here is a scientific reason why pig consumption was banned for jews and muslims, both religions of the desert at the time these prohibitions were written. Soure Jan 29 Montreal Gazette, author Dr. Joe Schwarcz, professore of chemistry, McGill university.

The argument that they are (unhealthy) , usually focuses on pigs. These animals wallow in dirt, sometimes eat excrement, and can harbour the parasites that cause trichinosis. Accordingly, some claim, God, through Moses, forbade their consumption.
Actually, cattle can transmit an even larger variety of nasties, such as tapeworms, E. coli bacteria and anthrax. Chickens will peck at excreta and commonly are infected with salmonella or campylobacter which can cause human disease.
There is no reason to believe that cooked pork is any more risky than other meats. But pigs would not have been easily raised in the open desert. They require shade, and unlike cattle or sheep, cannot live on dry grass and coarse shrubs. Pigs need some seeds or tubers, foods that can also be eaten by humans. Essentially then, pigs would not have been a wise ecological investment.

once u stay away from forbidden things just cuz Allah has forbidden them, u get reward for it....

once u stay away from alcohol or pork cuz scientifically speaking they r harmful u r no longer avoiding it in obedience to Allah and hence u dont get the reward u r supposed to get....

hence stop seeking scientific reasons for not eating pork....

TRUE TRUE, Very true. actualy you can add few more reasons why people during that period and in that region decided not to eat pork all together, but I am not gonna even try to explain those reason cos these guys are so bigot, well, actualy scared that they wont even try to look at anything else at all other than what they are forced to believe in. thier whole faith is based on FEAR. God forbid if they even think of anything other than what’s been passed down to them from 6th century, they would burn in hell. Consider this mentality, they say " do not drink alcohol cos God forbids it" NOT bcos that it is bad for your health. this is realy ignorance. Why else would God forbid alcohol if it weren’t for the fact that it is NOT good for your health???

Some believe that the Prophet Muhammad (sws) was responsible for making up the Quran. (astaghfarullah) in order to create a better society by placing fear of Hell fire in the people's minds.

Why would restrictions such as not to eat pork be included in the Quran, then? How does that improve society?

Pork was already considered bad for human health before Islam the reason was purely medical. and arabs accepted that reason as valid.

As stated before in this thread: Pig is an unclean animal - and causes several skin diseases.
Yes, other animals such as chickens,turkeys,etc(bird flue), or cows (mad cow disease) exists; but they are isolated cases. Whereas consumption of pork over period of time is most likely to cause skin releated diseases even though cooked.

Alcohol for obvious reasons as well.
