Kanpur: As if his form with the bat and behind the stumps were not a reason for concern, Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal received a fresh blow when he was ruled out of the ongoing One-Day International series against India due to an injured thumb.

^ according to the article cited, Sarfraz Ahmed the WK Capt from the U-19 team has been called but he'll only be available for the last match... so not sure about the next match.
In another interview, Malik hinted at Yasir Hamid being brought in place of Akmal. Apparently he can keep too.

The more I liked Yasir Hamid before, the bigger disappointment he turned out to be. If they really want to replace him with Yasir, then please let Akmal play with his injured hand.

Feel a little sorry for Akmal.
You can see in his body language and expression. He is mighty low in self-esteem.
Wicket-keeping is a cruel thankless job......people only note you for your lapses...you drop a few ....you come under the scanner....if affects your confidence...you drop a few more....the criticism becomes more intense...and its all downhill from there.

Yasir Hameed cannot keep - thats insane. India is next to Pakistan, they can fly someone Overnight to India. I dont understand, not like they have to fly to AUstralia or SOuth Africa. What the heck.
I think the injury is an excuse. I think the team management decided that he is making us lose matches by his keeping & batting and that Yasir Hameed cannot be worse than him?
Did he get injured batting? Did anyone see that live?

Yasir Hameed, Taufeeq Umar and Asim Kamal are keeper-batsman. Yasir Hameed and Taufeeq Umar did keeping perhaps in a test match (or was it an ODI?) in Rashid Latif's captaincy or perhaps immediately after.

CricInfo's bulletin for 3rd ODI calls Tendu's dismissal as the "unluckiest in ODI cricket: caught Akmal". That pretty much sums it up. The guy is just not an international level wicket keeper.
Some1's sympathy vote notwithstanding, an international level keeper can not hope to keep his job by being as incompetent behind the stumps as Akmal is. His batting, and I am sure he has plenty of supporters, never gave me any confidence. Yes, he scored some decent scores as an opening batsman, but he lacks proper technique, and as long as you don't have proper technique, you are a flash in the pan. You can score a few times, but when the opposition team comes prepared for you, and have done their homework, they will exploit your technical flaws. Thats the downfall of Akmal's batting, and result is that currently he is an all-round disaster for our team.
Agree with bitter... if Akmal goes out, thats a blow for India. Blah!

That’s good news for Pakistan. Look at India. Their keeper scores heavily & is the trump card alongwith Yuvraj Singh. And Dhoni never fails to impress us. Akmal, let’s face it, never failed to disappoint. Harsh words but this is international cricket. You have to be competent enough to be in the team.
Let’s see if Sarfraz Ahmed can provide some solidity to the batting order.

A good news for sure. Akmal looked lost, low on confidence and self-esteem. At least his negative energy wont spill to the other bowlers and fielders anymore.
