Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
It's not that everyone expects new moms to lose their baby weight right away following delivery (and BTW, Angelina supposedly had a mommy tuck after the twins), it's that Aish looks likes she gained MORE weight since having the baby - she doesn't look heavy to me, she still looks pregnant.
And yes I know a lot of women struggle with losing weight post-pregnancy - but gaining more weight, that's not only unattractive, but unhealthy as well.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Personally I couldn't care less how fat or thin she is. While I agree that she looks better while she's slimmer, the fact that there's so much outrage about her putting on weight is the real concern here.
I don't really know whether people think she has a duty to lose weight because she's a representative of India etc etc, but I actually think something like this was long overdue. I agree with what people say about needing to be healthy and taking care of yourself, but the fact that she doesn't seem to care about this just shows how she's actually doing something brave by stepping out as a chubby rather then give into those people telling her to lose weight.
I mean c'mon, she's a human. Why over-analyse. It's about time beauty got a bit more realistic about figures, right?
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Oh, and she still looks hotter than half of the skinny aunties that I've seen :(
Re: Aishwarya Rai’s post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
I have to say, when I go onto Facebook and see the “what articles have your friends been reading” and the chubby Aish stories come up time and time again, I do wonder why it’s become such a sensation.
Mind you, she get accolades for nothing as well - for supposedly being the most beautiful woman in the world - so she’s newsworthy merely for “being” ![]()
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Hehehe same here, all the articles people sneakily read are the fatty ones of her. I know she gets accolades for just being pretty, which is why it's about time she proves herself now that everyone's gonna call her moti :D
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
For Ashwariya, its the case of chicken coming home to roost. She built her career over her physical appearance, and is now facing the wrath of not living up to her self-promoted beauty.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
^see, that's a valid point. I get it if people are calling her a hypocrite or something, but they're just p'eed off about her getting moti.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
^calling her hypocrite is harsher than the term "moti". We don't know if she's a hypocrite or not....she could be suffering from depression etc.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Unlike Ash, most Hollywood mums don't have babies after retirement so there really isn't much of a difference between Tina Fey working on her figure because she has TV appearances to make or normal mum taking gym classes because she has an office to go back to, quit making it seem as if its so out of ordinary for new mummies to do bit of moving around for their own sake. If it wasn't for Ash making an appearance at Cannes, no on would've bothered talking about her image because her post baby double chin pictures have been floating on the internet for a long time.
The whole issue for me just highlights the great cultural differences that exits in our society over health and fitness...
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
^She's going to Cannes next week hence the hoo-haa in India otherwise no one even noticed her weight gain in last 6 months.
as if there will be no other slightly plump person there... logo ki soch bhi na
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Good grief! If you go to pinkvilla and read some of the lame/gay comments of the fans.....they are cringe-inducingly funny.
"Deepika has good heart and bootiful soul, not like Aishwarya".....Bwahahahahaahhaha...Um how would you know weirdo?
"Love you tooooo much, you are angel that falled down from haaven. Keep up your good works (funnily enough, actress has no projects) ...and god bless."
"Look at her hand. She is sooo fat. Moti!" (yup, the hand is a very good determinant of overall body size)
Some of those bollywood fans take things too far and their perceptions are sooooooo warped....as indicated by the article. She can't act....let her stay home and tend to the baby in peace. Sheesh!
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Oh well, at least I can be relaxed too and eat parathas without any tension now.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
If you want to make this an issue about health and fitness (as opposed to the fact that she has a double chin now), why don't you address whether or not she has post-partum depression? Is this information public knowledge? Is she going for therapy? Do we know? Do we care or do we just want to talk about her waist line?
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
And doesn't she have a habit of collapsing on sets? How many normal women, asian and otherwise, actually look like Angelina after they become mothers? .
She does? Is that why she does her own stunts and do all sorts of crazy action women roles?
A lot of Hollywood actors or films stars in general have record of suffering from exhaustion attacks on the set both male and females...
But I agree comparing Angelina and Ash is a very very unfair comparison both of them have totally different genetic set up and lifestyles. You should see Ange's mother with her children in her youth to see where she got her slim figure from, not to mention her father and brother are lanky looking.

Exactly, it'd be nice if people take such issues under consideration (I kinda get the vibe that her issue is lot deeper than eating right and exercising) than giving her pat on her back for gaining more weight than he did while pregnant because apparently its all normal and healthy because we're South Asians....body grooming is something what the firaangis do.
Not pointing at anyone here but its kind of frustrating to see very desi over weight women using children as her accuse for not taking care of herself.
Re: Aishwarya Rai’s post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
Let those over bothered fans look at Adele and then relax. She’s not even a mom yet. It isnt about South Asians only ![]()
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
In any case, it doesn't absolve sheeple for getting swayed in either case; first buying in the hype and now buying in the bashing.
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
^I personally don't like Adele's attitude...very chavy....but anyway. Does Ashwariya live with her inlaws?
Re: Aishwarya Rai's post-baby body forces India to confront its attitude to women
^ Errr I am not "ever bothered fan" at all in any sense or form and the South Asian things is what I got from various ridiculous articles (such as the one posted) and comments that I've read.
Going by the article, Adele's lucky that she's has the voice that goes beyond her physical appearance but when you're famous for just being pretty than its a different story.
