Ahmedinejad's letter

Re: Ahmedinejad's letter

But USA currently is the world's sole superpower and wishful thinking is not going to change that. The goal of every country is to be happy and prosperous. Only some countries can be super-powers others cant. Brazil, India, China, Russia can all be super-powers because of their large geo-graphical area they occupy, the international clout they have, their emerging economies, etc. Countries like Guatamela, Central African Republic, Liechenstein, Moldovia and Yemen can't be super-powers. You just have to accept it.

To hurt USA. Iraq also wanted to sell its own oil but why did it start a war in Kuwait and destroyed Kuwait's oil fields, etc. People do stupid things. Having a logical solution to everything is not a way of justifiying future behaviours. Iran has already said it will mine the Straits of Hormuz or sink hundreds of ships there so that the strait can become impassable.

.

See with that type of reasonings you have never convince the USA to take a more even handed apporach when dealing with Israel-Palestine. If you were writing to your Congressman in your district, using that language will get you no where.

Who else do you want to leave it to? Like it or not, USA is the world's sole super-power. It would be better if there was another democratic Super-power to challenge USA so there won't be any polarization but the problem is there isnt. China offers no hope because its a Communist Dictatorship, India is a corrupt society which will take atleast 100 years of reforms to fix. European Union offers some hope.

Any country can make weapons for its own defensive needs. But the problem is with Nuclear Weapons. These weapons can devastate the entire planet and cannot be trusted in the hands of people who are threatening to wipe out another nation.

Some guppies care for only worldly hell while consciously/subconsciously wanting the real Hell.

Re: Ahmedinejad’s letter

My Gosh…Bush got something done?

I do not agree that Bush should reject this letter and try to use the same thing as he did against Iraq i.e bad leader, history of violence against his own people blah blah blah because as we all know that is not his purpose, if it was the coalition of willing would be statisfied by now.

The best way to respond is to communicate. I mean if Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons, it is only because of security purposes. When your neighbouring countries are occupied by America that has increased anamosity against your country, the best way is to build defenses. Iran will only attack if provoked. Security delimma is the main concern for Iran and the U.S. Going ‘tit for tat’ won’t help the cause.

If Bush chooses to respond to this letter in thoughtful and serious matter, it will open a lot of doors. Even if the Muslim countries won’t agree, it will make a very good impersion as to U.S finally making an ‘effort’. Even if the turn out is not posotive it won’t make matter any worse than they already are.

This letter, no matter how bizzare it may sound, is a new line of communication from Iran to U.S. During the Cold War, U.S maintained diplomatic relations with the Soviets and as I recall still U.S has an embassy in Syria. So, why not Iran?

Re: Ahmedinejad's letter

Oh hazrat! Iran's neighbor got into a sorry state because they refused to accept the international rules.

It is $tupid to see Iran making the same mistakes that resulted in the demice of Talibanic rule or Saddamic rule.

Re: Ahmedinejad’s letter

^^ International Rules

Ok…

ummm…

Duh…!

The basis of war was Iraq had WMD and was threat to the world. Later as we all know is that the ‘assumption’ or shall I say allegation was fasle. UN Secretary Kofi Anan later said that “the US-led invasion of Iraq was an illegal act that contravened the U.N. Charter”

Since than Bush has repeatdly said that the invasion was to end terror and human rights abuses. Let’s us see how they have accomplished that:

Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse.

The abuses at Abu Ghraib prison were reportedly committed by MPs

“It is clear that the intelligence community dictated that these photographs be taken,” said Guy Womack, a Houston lawyer representing Charles Graner, 35, one of the soldiers charged.

Prisoners sent to Guantanamo Bay detainment camp, over which there is still significant debate.

Detainees held within Iraq without due process in various occupation bases and prisons.

The use of White phosphorus in the invasion of Bagdad and the siege of Fallujah.

Beating and torturing of Iraqi children by UK forces, including the drowning of a 15 year old teenager.

Re: Ahmedinejad's letter

Oh please not another one of you guys who cannot talk about one topic without reciting the littany of anti-US babble.

The fact remains that media coverage of Iran is thin. Very few news outlets have free reign to report there. As always, the worst unreported and unpunished deeds happen in the dark corners of the world, not the ones that are brightly lit. If you read the reports from Iranian resistance, even if half of it is true, there is an Abu Graib a day happening in Iran.

It used to be that the moderators around here at least tried to keep people on topic......

Re: Ahmedinejad's letter

^^Duhh...! I am just showing the full picture. Read back you started to divert the topic. First he is nut job, I don't trust Mullahs, he broke UN resolution, bad leader, I know a doctor from Iran now this Abu Graib thing...?

Re: Ahmedinejad's letter

OK if there were no WMDs, then what the heck Saddam was trying to hide from UN inspectors? His filafil or the Arabic demagh choos called Ghotra?

Re: Ahmedinejad’s letter

Nutjobs’ declaration of the day:

We don’t need incentives," Ahmadinejad said on state-run TV. “They cannot stop our progress by offering us incentives.”
"Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child…"

Well, now that you mention it, yes.

So far the carrots are not working. Soon the stick.
