Ahle bait is used for the family of hazrat mohammed (PBUH).I know that prophet had relations with all the four caliphs.hazrat abubakr and hazrat umar(RA) were his fathers-in law and Hazrat ali and hazrat usman were his sons-in-law.Hazrat fatima and her sons imam husain and hasan are known to us.
Can someone post a link of some website which has information relating to other daughters of the prophet and their family.
i understand that Quran uses the term ahl-elbait for wives....
search for the term in the Quran and u will see that every place this term is used it is referrign to the wives....
if tranlsated into urdu, it wud very simply mean "ghar waali" and we all know who ghar wali refers to....
Thanks mughal for the information.I always thought that ahle baith is used for the whole family.Normally in our part of the world azwaj e mutharaat is used for the wives of holy prophet.

Thanks for giving the link but I dont think wikipedia is a reliable site as most of it is contributed by the members.
Wikipedia Encyclopaedia is the most unreliable as it can be edited by public at large.
Just have a look at the above quoted from the link provided.
**Hz. Zainab bint Muhammad, Hz. Ruqayah bint Muhammad and Hz. Umm Kulthum bint Muhammad **(May Allah (swt) be pleased with them all) have been shown as step-daughthers of the Prophet (saw).
This is an open insult to Prophet (saw). Lineage of his own flesh and blood is attributed to some other unknowns!
The funny thing is that they are still addressed as “bint Muhammad” - daughter of Muhammad.
Recall Hz. Zaid bin Harith (ra) was once called Zaid bin Muhammad as the Prophet (saw) had adopted him. By the direct command Allah (swt) in the Quran Hz. Zaid (ra) was called by his proper name using his real father’s name. Hence on he was always called as Zaid bin Harith.
Wouldn’t the same have applied to the ‘supposed step daughters’ of the Prophet (saw).
The Amateurism of the editting of quotation from the link can be seen by the spelling mistakes! i.e: daugheter; granddaghter
I can’t understand why some people are refuting such an evident historical fact. Following is the list of the children of Holy Prophet.
From Hazrat Khadija:
Sons:
Hazrat Qasim
Hazrat Tahir
Hazrat Tayyeb
daughters:
Hazrat Zaynab married to Abul A’s
Hazrat Ruqayyah married to Utbah, a son of Abu Lahab.Marriage ended in divorce. She then married Hazrat Uthman, who became the third Successor of the Holy Prophet.
Hazrat Umme Kalthum married to Utaybah, another son of Kalthum Abu Lahab. This marriage ended in divorce too. She also married Hazrat Uthman, after the death of Ruqayyah.
Hazrat Fatimah married to Hazrat Ali, son of Abu Talib.
Reference from Shia source that Prophet Muhammad (saw) had 4 [four] daughters:
HIYAT aL-QULUB of Allama Muhammad Baqir al-Majlisi. Chapter V, PAGE 67 and also in the contents page, quoted word for word account of khadeejah:
Muhammed is employed by her in a mercantile expedition to sham: he marries her and has by her sons QASIM and ABDULLAH, and four daughters, **RUQAYYAH, ZAINAB, UMM KULTHUM AND FATIMAH.* May Allah (swt) be pleased with them all)*
The book is available in English, (paperback) called THE LIFE AND RELIGION OF MUHAMMAD HIYAT al-QULUB (vol.2). The book is translated into English by Rev. James L Merrick. The book was published in 1982 by the ZAHRA TRUST.
okay before this goes any further could someone please educate me why there is a dispute between biological and step daughters of the Prophet(pbuh) ?
I mean is this really relevant in some way?
both shias and sunnis give your views
if we accept the sunni argument that there were 4 biological daughters or the shia one that there was only one what difference is it going to make? apart from historical accuracy offcourse
May be it is to do with giving exclusivity to Hz. Fatimah (ra) being the ** only REAL** daughter of the Prophet (saw).
And then there is the status of Hz. Uthman bin Affan Al Ghani (ra) being the Son-in-law [in fact – twice] of the Prophet (saw). With this Hz. Ali bin Abi Talib (Karamallah wajhu) ‘loses’ his exclusivity of being the only REAL son-in-law of the Prophet (saw).
^ if its the twisted "facts" that u wish to believe then have it ur way, otherwise its universally accepted that Muhammad (saw) had 4 daughters and fatima (ra) was the youngest of those....
but to hear some shiaas come out and say fatima (ra) was the only biological child of muhammad (saw) makes me think that like u ppl accuse other wives of the prophet (saw) of misconduct (may Allah curse those who dishonor the wives of his beloved prophet), have u ppl now even started slandering umm-almomineen khadija (ra) too????
Sahih Muslim Book 031, Number 5915:This hadith has been narrated. on the authority of Shu’ba with the same chain of transmitters. Amir b. Sa’d b. Abi Waqqas reported on the authority of his father that Muawiya b. Abi Sufyin appointed Sa’d as the Governor and said: What prevents you from abusing Abu Turab (Hadrat 'Ali), whereupon he said: It is because of three things which I remember Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) having said about him that I would not abuse him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be more dear to me than the red camel. I heard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) say about 'Ali as he left behind him in one of his campaigns (that was Tabuk). 'Ali said to him: Allah’s Messenger, you leave me behind along with women and children. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to him: Aren’t you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron was unto Moses but with this exception that there is no prophethood after me. And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaibar: I would certainly give this standard to a person who loves Allah and his Messenger and Allah and his Messenger love him too. He (the narrator) said: We have been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the Holy Prophet) said: Call 'Ali. He was called and his eyes were inflamed. He applied saliva to his eyes and handed over the standard to him, and Allah gave him victory. (The third occasion is this) when the (following) verse was revealed:" Let us summon our children and your children." Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) called 'Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain and said: O Allah, they are my FAMILY. no one denies that ali, fatema, hassan, hussain were his family, but to say that this is all of his family is wrong....
that was his family as were many others from his family....
I wouldn’t say non-existent but rather in the houses they were married into…
In my family there were 11 people at one time…When the people of my household were invited someplace, my phuppi, my cousins e.t.c would all go…And if anyone asked my father, is that your family, he would say yes…This is my family…
My eldest sister was married at the time and she, obviously, could not be at the at the said gathering…That doesn’t really mean that she is ‘non-existent’ or not part of the family…Just that she is not there…
And the setting of the Mubahila was that of a gathering, like an invitation to eat, not have war…Either the priests were invited or it was the priests who had invited the family of the Holy Prophet :saw:, the setting was that of a get-together with food and everything…
According to Shia sources, the atmosphere was so relaxed that during the debate the Holy Prophet :saw: had one his grandsons in his lap while he was debating the priests…
So just because his elder daughters were not present at the gathering doesn’t mean they are out of his family or ‘non-existent’…
[QUOTE]
^ I think you missed the point. The question is where were the other daughters during mubahila..? most likely 'non existant'.

Exactly, where is the mention of other daughters in all the hundreds of traditions where Mohammad shows his extreme love and affection for his daughter Fatima, but says nothing noteworthy about 'other' daughters, wouldn't it be a bit unfair on the prophet's part? why did he declare only fatima as the leader of the women in heaven, and why only her sons as the leaders of the youth in heaven (BTW everyone will be young in heaven ;) ) this is something to ponder about.
