After Interview

So I gave an interview before the holidays and the interviewers both went on vacation a few days after I gave the interview and said they would contact me after they got back which would be possibly this week or next. I also gave an interview for the same company, but different department and different location. Before I left the lady gave me her card and told me to write down the phone # of the other lady. Should I contact them or wait for them to call me???

Re: After Interview

Wait till the weekend for their call if you do not get a call by the weekend then you can call them.

Re: After Interview

normally after interview, one should wait for their response first.

thanks for the help....I think it is best for them to just reply.

Re: After Interview

never ever call them back, trust me when they want you they will look for you.
The lady at hr would be tracing you as her full time job.
Prepare for next interview. Getting to interview is a very good sign.

Re: After Interview

it's been 10 day's and still no reply? u need to call them up...

Re: After Interview

CE let the girl have some dignity, why should she hear an actual "NO"

Re: After Interview

Bcoz, if they have rejected her, she need's to know why, so she can work on it and improve her self for the next interview.

Re: After Interview

and plus every company should get back to u, if it's a yes or a no, if it's a no then they should tell you why u wasn't right for the job. tht's just lame of them not to have contacted back....

Re: After Interview

thats the whole idea, girl should not care about the ppl who didnt want to hire her!

She should look forward to more kick A$$ interviews.

heres what she is going to hear "oh we went for candidate with more compatible skill set"

Its their job, they are not going to become her buddy and help her improve.

Re: After Interview

Im an X manager and i have interviewed people. if they are not right for the job i write them a letter telling them tht they where not suitable for the job if they wish they can contact me, and i could explain to them why they where not suitable.

U dont keep people hanging it's just unprofessional

Re: After Interview

well you were the nicest!
But still there is millions of millions fish in see, why linger around the one you cant have.

Re: After Interview

^well the company should have a interviewing policy, i would ask them for it, coz it should definitely be in there what their interview after procedures are....(naa dont really do tht, coz they definitely wont give you the job then)

when u apply for a job it usually says in the letter/pack if u haven't heared back from us with in 28 days please assume that u was unsuccessful blah, blah blah, yeah

they don't say that in interview's becoz it's there job to contact u back,

Re: After Interview

I got a couple of jobs just by pestering the interviewers. They thought that since I am so much interested in the job then I must work for them diligently. :cb:

Re: After Interview

CE here its a eneral practice to not go into details of why someone was not a good fit of teh job. Unfortunately its a litiguous society and ppl play it safe. usually they will just say they are pursuing other candidates etc etc, and you hear that from HR not the hiring manager.

I wish they were more like u!!!

there's alwyas studies coming out.. how "unattractive" people or "overweight" people are less likely to be hired. So in addition to my (in)experience, or awkward interviewing skills, i have to worry that my looks/body are not getting me hired!

Its ok u guys its no biggy...they just sent an email that another candidate got the position. I emailed her back and thanked her for the interview and she said she had to make a "hard decision". Since I work for the company at another location and position she tried to offer me additional hours. But I can only work part time and my schedule is in the middle of the day so I just explained that to her...Thanks for all ur help u guys.

Question: Before u interview for those of you who are in HR, do u pretty much know who ur going to hire? And on what basis do u chose ur employees. Like what do they have to say to impress u???

Re: After Interview

Well it's good to know she did get back to u, and mayb it was ur hours that wasn't suitable for them. When I interveiw someone i usually know within the first 5-10 min, if this is the right person for the job or not.

When ur going for an interview u have to see it as selling ur self to these people, show off. Tell them whats good about u and what u can bring to the company.

The Interviewee should do 90% of the talking think carefully when answering them. Do research on the job/company and read the job description before hand. remember they will be watching and noting down ur responses and body language so remember to stay calm, confident and cheerful..:)

after an interview the interviewer should tell you what happens next. i.e they will contact you or write to u...

Who ever they hear it from doesn't really matter, aslong as they do hear from someone yeah,

You do have to be careful and pick ur words wisely when speaking to them, about why they didn't get the job. But i think it's only right u tell them why they where not chosen. And like I said, I write it in a letter giving them an option if they want to call it's their decision. I see it as giving feed back so they can go on to improve them selves for the future, not loosing their dignity.....

I see what ur saying about playing it safe, but tht doesn't mean to say u dont get in touch at all, that wont be playing it safe either right?

Re: After Interview

its not the hearing that I am questioning but the reasons. In US specific reasons are many times not given, but just that the company is pursuing other candidates, and may just say that their skills were better aligned with the position. rarely would people go into specifics.
