UTD, you cannot address that problem with Affirmative action....we must stop telling the blacks that they are victims of "man is holding you down"....its about time we did. What are democrats so afraid of...let them be and they will take care of themselves...people do, they dont need to constantly fed the same old line of you are being discriminated against....one of my friends who is black, grew up in 5th ward of houston (very poor neighborhood) is doing just fine without the help of the govt.....one of the reasons he was able to do it is that he did not let the people tell him that he was being held down by some unseen "man".

Kaleem, in the economic system of the Unites States, there will always be an underadvantaged class (i.e. the lower classes).

In these classes, a disproportionate number of them are African American.

Hurricane naturally hit these pple the worst, since they didn't have the cash to get out of town like others.

The real question that this has forced Americans to ask is...why are a disproprtionate number of the lower classes African American?

Nawlins highlighted two serious problems in the US:

• Disaster management and recovery.

• Poverty.

In post 9/11, the Bush administration has deliberately ignored both. When I look at the pictures of Nawlins and the poverty, those problems, if not more, are equally as dangerous to the US as terrorism.

NY’ers are smart and tough. During 9/11, they organized and fought tooth and nail to be what was needed. I wonder if other cities could come together (like NY did during 9/11) in case of a catastrophe.

To make long story short: I have no faith in Bush or FEMA.

Bush should be forced to resign.

9/11 was politicised beyond recognition…It was the new rallying cry, the new Alamo…

New Orleans didn’t provide enough political worthiness to be milked…

Why has ‘race’ become an issue in this disaster?
The hurricane itself, late response of the government, reaction of the victims, desperation of the poor and the idiot president ..nothing has to do with ‘black’ or ‘white’? So who is making it a race issue and why?
