After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

Only item you need is a deep dish with a transparent bottom. You’re going dish up to the moon…from the roof-top of your home…and then hold it up to your fiance’s face. Whilst in-laws gaze upon you adoringly.

On a more serious note…since when did Shab-e-Raat become something you “give” or “take”? That’s news to me. I can never seem to remember when it takes place..and all I’ve heard is that you do ibadat on this day. Haven’t heard of it becoming a social obligation. Stay at home…pray…make lots of dua for yourself, family, everyone. I think that sometimes turning things into a social affair/obligation…can decrease the value of a practice. Correct me if I’m wrong, but are Desi Muslims more conscious about Shab-e-Barat than the Arabs?
