After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

Okay, like eid ive heard that people take SHAB-E-RAAT as well to the in-laws side. I want to know did any one send it or receive it? What items were included? Do only girls-side or even the boys-side take it too?

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

Yea you pray 1000 nafal for you future husband and he prays for you .

Sure :)

But do you know which items do you take to the in-laws side? And who sends it normally?

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

You wha'?

Sawab . . . and I think you usually send it , and from other side your husband . Btw if it will follow a daba of GulabJamun , then at least I won’t mind it at all . :yummy:

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

daffy these boys wont help you. and neither can i sorry. never seen it happening in my family. I know nothing about alot of traditions :(

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

Sorry to burst your bubble but taking food (or other stuff) to in-laws or to anyone's place does not have any religious significance. Better be in front of Allah asking for forgiveness for every second you got on this night.

Pity that people (including myself) are progressively overlooking the importance of this night or wasting it in un-related activities.

Hey hey! No one is devaluing the importance of this day, no one is compromising over the praying that is to be done and no one is making it a cultural thing instead of a religious thing. I wonder why everything is made a debate in life1.

Anyway - some families do follow traditions of wishing others on shab-e-raat and taking some food items ALONG WITH the praying at home. I see no harm in it. Its just a way to celebrate the day.

I did not call it haram. You have just made up your mind and you dont want to read, what you dont want to read :)

Cooking Food (time) + Taking it to inlaw or others (time) + staying there even for little (time) = time_you_have_this_night minus time_you_wasted = you do the math

Allah and Prophet has told us how to celebrate this night i.e by praying. I totally agree for doing this food-cooking etc on Eid as its the way we have been told to celebrate it

and finally, its a discussion and not debate. YOU have asked a question related to RELIGION, I replied with answers loaded with RELIGIOUS to-dos thats it. Now that answers was not to your liking is something else :)

chill!

Who is saying that praying at night is when the food will be taken or made? e.g. Shab-e-raat is tonight and during the day any time you can take food items. Yup - its a tradition and i see no harm in it.

Every one follows religion and knows what holds priority for them, in their own way. The question was only on what should be taken or did you take anything? That does not overlook the importance of the night in any way.

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

LOL! man I love this place.

what he said

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

From what i have heard, there are fruits, halwa puri, and mithayi normally.

Both sides take it. It all depends on whether your family follows it or not.Its a way of celebrating the day by wishing others and of course praying all night.

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?

So its ok to sit and watch telly all day and then pray all night, but if the poor girl wants to take some food to her inlaws its called wasting time....

why dont we all sit at home, sell the telly, and other gadgets, and commit to giving allah all our time, after all everything else we do is a waste of time.

Re: After engagement, whats the concept of taking SHAB-E-RAAT?
