Ireland is an ideal opportunity for him to take a braek from cricket as he has been playing continuously and he admitted he needed a break.

Ireland is an ideal opportunity for him to take a braek from cricket as he has been playing continuously and he admitted he needed a break.
He knows that his style of bowling that has earned him 6 wickets in 11 games this years (other than WC games) is not favorable for conditions of ireland and his batting form, last thing where he wants to** expose himself is NOT the early summer seam/swing bowling conditions of Ireland**.....But, I wouldnt be surprised if PCB instead of letting him go or dropping him from team, gives him yet another chance and let him announce himself that he is going to be taking a break from Ireland tour.
Saby, What continous cricket??? He played t20 last july and ran off from responsibilities of playing continously for Pak during test series with AUS/ENg, then had a rest/break **and then came back for 5 ODI's with eng....then had a **rest/break and then played 5 ODI's with SA and then had another 6 weeks or so of rest/break **then played t20/ODI with NZ and then came back and had a **break/rest **then played WC had rest/break **and then went to WI....Bhai Marey Afridi over last 12 months had more breaks than PTV's coverage of cricket WC 1999.
do you think he would have been asking for a break from busy cricket if he was part of IPL?

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering sidelining limited-overs captain Shahid Afridi from the Ireland series that starts after the West Indies tour. Afridi, who confirmed receiving a letter from the PCB demanding an explanation of the remarks made on team management’s interference during the Caribbean tour, returned to Pakistan after the completion of the limited-overs matches.
However, the PCB, irked by the comments, stated that Afridi is likely to be dropped from the Ireland series until the submission of the tour report at the end of the West Indies Test series.
“He won’t be selected until the submission of the tour report,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune. “Afridi’s future is in jeopardy as PCB ponders over the idea of a long-term captain.”
Afridi, according to the PCB official, was never the ideal option for captaincy and was given the role on a series-to-series basis.
The official said that the PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt is looking to hand over the role to a long-term prospect and Misbahul Haq is being tipped to become the limited-overs captain with opener Mohammad Hafeez as the deputy.

what kind of criterion is it to comment on his bowling and exclude the last major tournament, one concluded less than a month and a half ago, where he topped the list of wicket takers?

I believe the intention was to show recent stats OUTSIDE the spin friendly subcontinent.

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to dump Pakistan’s limited overs captain Shahid Afridi. The board high ups have confirmed the reports that Test Captain Misbah-ul-Haq will lead Pakistan in one-dayers and T20 matches.
PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt was not satisfied with Shahid Afridi’s performance and most likely he will not be part of the team in upcoming Ireland and Zimbabwe tours, sources said.
Afridi landed himself in administrative hot water for comments he made on Sunday after returning to Pakistan from the Caribbean.
Afridi confirmed to reporters that there had been differences between him and the team management over selection issues during the five-match ODI series that Pakistan won 3-2. Though he didn’t take anyone’s name specifically, it was coach Waqar Younis he was referring to.
The board served him a notice to explain to the board what he has said.
