I don’t endorse what he did and in my opinion he should have got a much more severe punishment. But the fact is that he has openly admitted doing tampering saying that he was desperate to win. He has been punished and we have to move on.
No one is perfect in our society but we still give second, third, fourth… countless chances to everyone. So why not Afridi???
If we have to punish Afridi by not giving him captaincy then lets be fair and see how many times we have awarded others while they were committing mistakes after mistakes or involved in corruption?
What about all the selfish captains from the past all the way till Yousuf who all promoted nepotism/favoritism and discouraged selection on merit?
The fact is all those who enjoyed authority have been involved in wrongdoings and we all unconsciously or consciously accepted them because sometimes we had no choice or sometimes the mertis outweigh drawbacks.
