So the latest i have been able to found on Pakistani news channels is this. Lets hope the efforts to bring her back are successful.
** Why is no one demanding Dr Aafia’s release?**
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has succeeded in obtaining five helicopters from President Barack Obama, but failed to obtain the release of Pakistani citizen Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
Dr Aafia claims that the Americans are trying to kill her and those who have met this frail lady say she is in bad shape both physically and mentally. It was former General Pervez Musharraf and President Hamid Karzai who handed over Dr Aafia to the Americans, who illegally took her to Kabul and then to the United States where she continues to be tortured in jail.
When the spokesman at the Foreign Office was asked about a citizen who is continually being stripped, tortured and video-taped by the American jail authorities and whether Zardari would choose to bring her to Pakistan instead of five helicopters, he replied, “Our ambassador in Washington met with the US attorney general on August 13. Efforts are afoot at the highest level, both political and legal, to bring her back. We have requested the Obama administration to reconsider her case on compassionate grounds,” the spokesman stated.
President Zardari would have received enthusiastic welcome in Islamabad had he managed to return with Dr Aafia. Remember the welcome the Turkish prime minister received when he returned from the Davos after having walked out of the conference on matter of principle?
She is not, if she were she would be ended up in Guantanamo bay. All the foreign combatants held their, not on US soil. A simple logic, which most person can’t get.

She's not held as a foreign combatant, she is held under ordinary charges of terrorism and is undergoing a conventional trial.
^ B-randeis actually but the point is quite valid.
There is much reason to suspect that Afia bibi was atleast radicalized. At worst, she was an Al-Qaeda operative. Does that, in any way, justify kidnapping her since 2003, and the strong suggestion of rape and torture for a number of years, to the point that she is rendered mentally and physically disfigured? Does that mean that our government not do everything in its power to ensure just treatment and full and verifiable disclosure/confirmation of exactly what she was doing?
It is abominable what they have been doing with missing persons. Atleast if someone is dead the family has some closure on the issue. Imagine knowing that a loved one is alive and is could be raped or tortured again right now.
Violence is violence, at the hands of a militant or an interrogation. Rape is rape, whether for pleasure or as an 'advanced interrogation technique'.

The US Attorney General assured the Interior Minister that Dr. Afia Siddiqui will be allowed to meet her mother and brother.

read that khehkeshan bibi you might udnerstand a thing or two.
Ofcourse it is possible that Afia Siddiqui is having mental problems because of some family condition. We have Khehkeshan's diagnosis to go on there. or it could be the rape and torture that american prisons have come to be associated with, and that has been reported specifically for this woman. both are possibilities, but perhaps Khehkeshan can tell us what enables him to say it just happened like it just happens?
