People wants food to eat they dont give a damn about this artificial games by corrupt politicians.
Personally I think there should be no provinces in Pakistan we need to change the the hole system in Pakistan.....for now i think a representative political setup is the best solution without any provinces, but more powers given to local people on district level so that they could be held accountable by there local constituancies instead of blaming the provinces or federal governments.

Theres actually no big issue with the renaming thing other than remembering the fact that Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansera, Haripur,Indus Kohistan and the eastern portion of Dera ismail Khan are non-Pashtun areas and it is simply unfair Pashtuns to enforce their identity upon them.
Someone will raise the fact that Balochistan, Punjab and Sindh have minorities too but they have to remmeber Sindh, Punjab are geographical names...the land of the 5 rivers and sindh= indus,
Afghania is a better name than Pakhtunkhwa as its shorter, "less" ethnic/linguistic in a Pakistani sense.
If Afghans have a problem with accepting tajiks, uzbeks from Afghanistan as Afghans then they arealways free to give their northern portions to Tajikistan or Uzbekistan.

One, Afghan is not an ethnicity. Afghanistan is a country, made up of multiple ethnicities, not just Pashtuns.
Having said that, your ethnicity is Pashtun, but so long as your passport reads Pakistani, your nationality is just that.
But if Pashtuns want to be associated with Afghanistan, its up to them.
You must understand the sensitivity of that name. You know as well as we do the history. Afghanistan has consistantly tried to stoke the fires of Pashtun nationalism in Pakistan from the very birth of the country. This is the primary reason why relations have been so bad.

Thats exactly the mentality that hurled Afghanistan into civil war. The Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbeks resent you claiming their country as solely belonging to you.

The major chunk of Pushtoon nation can be categorized into two main groups due to the current geographical division: Pushtoons of Afghanistan and Pushtoons of Pakistan.
The Pushtoons of Afghanistan are divided into two factions:
The religiously active and Pakistan backed Taliban who are fighting against the Us and NATO forces and trying to take over the reigns of power and striving to implement their version of Islam.
The nationalist Pushtoons more concerned rather skeptic about their as well as future of Afghanistan due to the political turmoil and instability caused by the fight between the Taliban and the foreign forces and also internal ethnic differences between Pushtoon and non Pushtoon population.

Think its an exageration as far as resources go, but obviously the relationship in Pakistan between the provinces and the federal unit has to be revised.
You seem to infatalize Pashtuns. Somehow the poor Pashtuns are completely incapable of independant and rational thought, with no capacity to make mature decisions for themselves, and are thus exploited like helpless children... Try to take some responsibility for your own people. Blaming other for your problems doesnt resolve anything.
It wasnt Pakistan that created this rabelliousness among Pashtuns.
Its not a matter of exploitation, the Pashtuns would have risen up on their own during the Soviet invasion, as they did during every other invasion of their territory.
As for your own nation, thats not going to happen. Infact, if anything has caused Pahtuns problems, its this nationalist sentiment. Its the venom that poisoned relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan from day one.
As for basing this supposed Pashtun nation on Islamic tennents, you make the same mistake again. For one, I think Pashtuns have enough Islam to last them generations, if anything, Pashtuns need to less religous not more.
Second, your just inviting a new Taliban like regime to take over, and we all know how well the Taliban have done in promoting Pashtun culture and society.
There are inherant problems within the society, which cant be resolved by having your own couontry.

I'm not Pushtoon and frankly, do not care for "pushtoon" independence, or "pushtoon identity" or what have you. Either you start thinking and acting like a Pakistani, or leave the country if you don't like it that much - plenty of people have and you wouldn't be the first ones. Oh right, except you'd have to find a country that tolerates the kind of separationist mentality you have...oh right, you wouldn't even bother voicing those kinds of sentiments in other countries, because no point in being thrown into jail!
Pakistan is not hard enough on anti-state forces. I mean, its allowing at least 1/4 of the country to be swallowed up by extremists who have effectively established their own country - there is no such thing as "terrorists do not belong to any one country" anymore in fact - their country is within Pakistan. So, its not surprising the government is even indulging in this debate.
Does no one find it ironic that this debate comes up at exactly the time when villages are being taken over and being declared an independent state of Islam led by the world's biggest con-artists? You don't think its a coincidence. So many years Pakistan has been around and where was Afghania then? YOu don't think that the term "Afghania" gives credence to the idea that NWFP is just an extension of Afghanistan and that it should be generously donated to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or even Karzai (the thought probably wets his pants out of excitement)?
Any Pakistani on this forum who is arguing about these trivial matters when the country is going down the crapshoot and is delusional enough to think that a name change will change the living conditions of the poor children growing up in NWFP is sorely still living in medieval times of Jaahiliyat. Your tribes are a source of pride and source of identity, sure, but they are not your nation, and they are not the only people you owe allegiance to. There is existence outside of your tribe, and you need to grow up and realize that you have a responsibility to the whole of mankind not just to your Pushtoon brethren. And herein lies your fate as a people.
