I can understand your disappointment. Had Pakistan not jumped in, your friends from Russia would have taken over Afghanistan. Pakistan had to get involved in this greedy game of power because it was sitting next to a battleground where an expansionist superpower was on a rampage. Another superpower with a wealthy Arab partner was on our back with sticks and carrots. We had to do it anyway even if the US and Saudis would have not pushed us into it.
