I agree with both mamaof3 and Lahore 981. There are absolutely no guarantees in marriage-life. There is a flip side to every situation: couple who met for the first time during their wedding nights led fuirtful life while couples in the west who knew each other for years prior to marriage divorced within the first year. However, I don't believe that this predicament entailed out-of-wedlock or girlfriend-boyfriend culture. That is something which is a discussion within itself.
But unfair divorce laws and regulations which favor a female more then males does discourage many men from tying the knot in fear that the wife-to-b*t*h will take half of everything he worked so hard to earn and establish even before the marriage.
I am not really afraid but only apprehensive. Life is too short to not take a chance at marraige and children. May be it will work out for me. Allah knows.
