Adopting a child

I have always wanted to adopt a child, whether I be a single mother in doing so, or married. Insha’Allah. Atleast thats the plan.

I remember talking to a rishta I had once and I asked him if he’d consider adopting, and he was totally against the idea. He said he wanted “his blood” child only. At that time I thought it was a bit selfish of him, but now I realize that its a personal choice and not everyone can deal with it, and so its best that some people steer clear of adoption.

As you know, in Islam adoption is allowed but the child is supposed to keep the last name of the biological father(if its known), and the child must be told he is adopted at a certain age.

My question to you is, would you adopt a child if your spouse wanted to adopt? Why or why not?

ofcourse :o
why not? If I couldnt have kids :)

What I m totally against: Family, (like bro s and sis) who give their kid to a family member who cant have kide :)
Why dont they adopt one?? :o

Waise munni, you do have a different kinda topics to talk about to a 'possible husband'. :D

I dont know how i would have react if i didnt had my kids ...it is fine to adopt kids if you dont have any ...i dont see anything wrong in it ...

han another thing is i just cant think of giving my kid to a family member who dont have kids ( i think i am selfish) :o

So if you already have kids you dont think its fine?

I was thinking of making my second child an adopted child, not the first.

I have decided already that out of the 2 kids I wanna have, one is definitely going to be adopted. I really don't see any problem in adopting a kid. If I could make a less fortunate child (as compared to me and my child) my own and provide him/her with all he/she would have missed out on otherwise, it would just make me a better and a happier person.

I would consider adopting a child (or children) if I didn't already have my own child. The reason being that I don't think I could ever love a child I have adopted as much as my own child that I carried for 9 months and gave birth too. Its hard to explain unless you have had children yourself how strongly you feel about your own children.

Secondly I wouldn't want there to be any rivalry between my own child and adopted child, even in the best family enviroment its going to be hard to keep these kind of feelings from arising from time to time. This is speaking from experience from growing up with a stepmother and siblings. Not the same this as adoption per se I know but it does have a lot to do with the way I view adoption.

I think its slightly different though with a step-parent. =

I think parents often have favorites whether it be their own children or an adopted one. And jealousy and all the other things run rampant in just about everyones childhood, with siblings.

Even if it's a non Muslim name? To answer your question though. I would only adopt if I had no other choice. I'd rather prefer "my own" child.

No i dont think its fine (for me ) to adopt kids if i have got my own :-)

i would adopt.. and if my future hubby insisted he wanted to adopt a child, i would have at least 10 times more respect for him than before..

but yes it is quite understandable if somenoe doesnt want to adopt.. i think i would be more than happy to :)

just making a statement :o

Hmm, I stated I have always wanted to adopt, and that its my plan to do so in the future. As for if it will happen or not, only Allah knows at this point.

You cannot say for sure that we will not adopt, just as I cant say for sure it will happen with me.

Thats me being honest. smile

how can one be so sure? i REALLY want to.. and being pakistani or not has nothing to do with it... i would love to bring up my sponsored child...

I will adopt if my hasband also agrees with me.....something that i always wanted to do....raising a less fortunate child probably would give me the chance of doing some good and having a purpose of life before i die.

Good for you if you think so . :)

But what makes you think like this? Why u think we won't do it? I am sure I am going to do it as long as it is in my power to do so. Actually I am really looking forward to it. And what makes u think Pakistanis cannot adopt kids ?
