Muzna you said it … thats exactly the as in our family .. I am known as aapi by all youngsters in the family … and anyone who is older them me in relation or age , is appi or babhi for me
Moving on , I dunno why some of you are confusing taking husbands name and addressing him with respect  they are two different things … I take my husbands name as well , its not like i call him honay walay munna and tunna kai abba
and not taking husband's name is obviously a little over the edge in my opinion too. :p ye to hamare grandparents k time ki baat hai. ab things are different
but 'Aap' is perfectly ok ..i have seen everyone in my family saying the same. my mom khalas my cousins even my friends. and my fiance' finds it pretty cute that i call him aap. (according to him :D)
I only use the word “app” when i am talking to my father or mother…
I don’t think i will ever call my wife “aap” and i wouldn’t expect this from her either…i mean c’mon…open up lol there is no need to be so formal when u are married.
When communicating in urdu, i would expect her to use the word “tum”, or just address me with my name instead of using “aap”.
I hardly speak urdu with my siblings or mates…“tum” or “aap” problem solved
