Adding wine to food

If wine or beer is added to food and then it is cooked, all of the alcohol evaporates and there is no ‘nasha’ or ‘khumr’ (arabic) in the cooked meal. Then why is adding small quantities of wine is not OK to some people? Just asking. Don’t issue fatwas here please.

abay 'cause people still can't psychologically get over it.

Yes thats what my mian says. But I just can not get over it. Typical desi hoon na! Can't help it.

Roman, you are so good at stating the obvious. If there was an award for saying cliches, you would be a winner hands down.

I don't add wine to food I make at home but I gotta admit, I have had beer battered fried cod fish on a few occassions. And there was no smell of alcohol. Just the sour taste of barley.

I've had this discussion numerous time with people, but they refuse to accept it. Ikdam stubborn as a mule.
I guess to each his own. Na khao...your loss, not mine.

i think it should be ok..

I rest my case. What kinda religion would decree Tiramisu haram?

That's a little hard to believe Waleed. I don;t think the amount of alcohol in cakes /tiramasu is enough to get people tipsy. I had a tiramasu cake just once, felt a little guilty, haven't had it again so far.

never say always catty, absolute truths are very rare.
there are plenty of places that make tiramisu without alcohol.

yeah I know I make tiramisu at home.

Funguy, you dont need to use wine, you can use vinegar instead or apple cider vinegar. Youre just making lame excuses coz you want the wine flavour to come through in your cooking!

My question is:

If you add wine to the food and you claim that it has evaporated completely after cooking, why would you add the wine to the food in the first place? What´s the point?
