What really annoys me is that facebook changed their privacy settings recently so now profile pictures are visible on profile search results. Before, my name just came up with that question mark as the picture.
So now I get even more weirdo's sending me messages and friend requests. I just report all the obscene messages and block the people who try to add me again and again. I don't bother accepting people I don't know.
don't you know its haram to take picture, have picture in possession.. or the biggest sin of all to put it on some western Zionist made website .. ?
forget strangers, I dont add ppl I know to my FB.
its a way for me to keep in touch with friends and family
the people who I want involved in my life regardless of physical distance
for others, I dont see a reason unless we are looking at FB as a way to build closer ties or rebuild ties with ppl who I lost touch with.
I have cousins and ppl from uni who have sent requests and I have ignored em..dont see a reason
Im the weird one here. If I see the person is local and they speak english (ie not a fobby dude looking for fraaaandship) ill accept the request. its always good to meet new people and make friends. (I think :halo: )
I used to think the same thing too, and I’d accept friend requests from girls in the desi community here I barely knew, thinking they were just trying to be friendly. Honestly, I am convinced most just wanted to check out what was going on in my life to gossip…

Unless the person adding you sends some kind of message like a introduction to go along with it....ignore... and even if they do send a message I dont think its a good idea... one bc of crazy pervy desi boys out there....

I don’t add random strangers but I have tons of ppl on FB (including family, ex-coworkers, Uni friends, close friends, etc.) but then I don’t do many status updates (except maybe Oh, Thank God its Friday :p) and I don’t keep people posted about whats going on in my life… most communication with family or friends is through private messages and my pic albums are only visible to family and close friends.
FB is a good way to stay updated with who is living where and has how many kids and its easier to contact them … I’m so lazy with the phone.
I have only have friends and family on my FB and a few people from high school. I don't update my page religiously and don't add loads of pictures of myself. I regularly get nutters sending friend requests, but they get rejected straight away.
One problem I found I was having on FB was my friends were commenting on my pictures and then not deleting it from their page (e.g. X commented on Y's picture) and that was bugging me as it meant that their whole friends list could then go on to view ALL my pictures just from one comment a friend had written on my picture. So I upped my security and now no-one can comment on my pictures :)
^Amor, if you change your album privacy settings to "Friends only", only your friends can see the pics... not their friends even if your friends comment on the pics, they wont get access to your album.
I never felt motivated enough to create a Facebook account (much to the vexation of my friends). When I think of the drama and other issues that can result…I don’t feel like it.
There is a bigger number of weirdos in real life too. I am telling ya. 
and its easier to contact them … I’m so lazy with the phone.
