In Nassiriya yesterday, US officers said they had found 3,000 chemical protection suits and large quantities of nerve gas antidote at a hospital which had been used as a base by Iraqi soldiers fighting the invasion. This is being interpreted as evidence that Iraq may be prepared to use chemical weapons.
However, the “antidote” - atropine - also has routine medical uses for treating heart patients and some respiratory conditions

Ok. Maybe it was a cynical thing to say as Khan_sahib suggested in another thread.
But what I can't understand is why they would put undo stress on the soldiers? Especially if they want to win? Use them to put on a show and the media be in cahoots? And ruin the economy and spend nealy 80 billion dollars to do it? Makes no sense to me.
Maybe that sounds one sided also.
I don't think Iraqi's having chemical suits or medicines proves that anyone is going to use chemical weapons. I don't even know if Saddam even has them. I know that he used to have them and some agents are said to be unaccounted for.
Is that proof that he has and will use them? No.
Do I think he has and will use them? I don't know. It would be stupid not to look, and stupid not to be prepared.
Do I think the U.S. would poison people? No.
Do you think the U.S. would poison people? And the Brits go along with that?
Do you believe that Saddam had them and used them in the past?
If he didn't then why the sanctions and inspections for so long?
Should Iraqi's be equally protected? Absolutely.

President George Bush formally asked Congress yesterday for almost $75bn (£48bn) to fund the war. He had delayed making the request until the invasion got under way, for fear of objections.
Bothers me that he would send of bombs and troops and then after people start being killed, formally ask for the money to pay for it.

Russia on Wednesday expressed concern that Washington could fabricate evidence of Iraq allegedly hiding its weapons of mass destruction in an effort to justify the US-led attack on Baghdad.
Speaking before the Federation Council (Russian Upper House) on Wednesday Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov cautioned Washington and London that Moscow is not going to trust their claims of finding evidence of WMD in Iraq.
“Even if the American-British forces report that they have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the final assessment of their origin can be given only by international inspectors,” Ivanov said.
“No other assessments (WMD evidence) can lead to a final conclusion, this is the understanding within the framework of the UN Security Council,” Ivanov said.
Earlier, similar apprehensions were voiced by the former deputy chief of the Russian Defence Staff Gen (retd) Valery Manilov and Iraqi ambassador in Moscow Abbas Khalaf in the wake of US Gen Tommy Franks and US ambassador Alexander Vershbow’s statements that the US would produce the evidence of Iraqi WMD.
When asked by NTV channel on Tuesday that coalition troops are inside Iraq for the fifth day and have not found any Iraqi WMD, the US ambassador Vershbow said they will soon find this evidence.
Iraqi Ambassador to Russia in an interview to the same channel, did not rule out the use of chemical or other weapons of mass destruction by the US-led coalition forces to later pin the blame on Baghdad.
well its a very strong possibility that USA will fabricate WMD evidence to show to the world. they went into this war without any support from anyone. but they don't want to get out of it empty-handed. they'll have WMD in the possession to tell the world that they were right all along.

I live in the U.S. I can gurantee you that U.S. wouldn't do that. U.S. isn't criminal. We are the good guys. In no way would I EVER believe that U.S. would use WMD.
If we wanted to hurt people, we would. And I believe we have in our arsenol Nukes. If we wanted to cause harm to the Avg. Iraqi ? Why on earth would our soldiers be dying instead of planes bombing? Why?
If our soldiers are hurting in the field, and people know they are, why on earth wouldn't we call an airstrike to save them? Because our soldiers and government don't want to see innocent people dying.
Even though, the Iraqi's wave white flags, and then when the soldiers think they are surrendering? They shoot them. And they die. Just like anyone else.
Imagine how hard it is to see people surrendering?
A soldier risks his life to make sure its a real surrender.
And people think Americans are Jerks. In fact, probobly the softest people you have ever met.
