hiya
I have seen a girl at ma Uni, she take different types of vitamins at different intervals of time n duration as in vitamin C tables, Vitamin B12, Iron capsules. and now in winter season she is taking codliver oil capsules, wen i asked her that who priscribed her all this, she replied that her Khala gives all these vitamins to her children not all at once but one type at a time. and she said that their skins are so glowing and flawless, and her Khala ask her too to start using them, so she did…
Once I was watching Dr. Khurram (Dermotologist) on TV, he also said that multivitamins and a glass of milk are very essential and one must take it.
On the flip side I asked this to a known dental tachnician of mine so he said that using multivitamin tablets are not really healthy in the long run, access use of multivatimins fades the actual color of teeth ending yellow in color.
now i m quite confused, what a person shud do… shud we take multivitamins (not that much as she is taking) or not… what u guys do? have any idea?
plz share ur comments…
i take vitamins very occasionally....b/c i don't want by body to get used to them. i eat pretty healthy most of the time as well so i don't feel like i need them, but i do take vitamin c if i feel like i'm about to get sick. my mom tells me to take cod liver oil, but i'm too lazy.
Taking a good quality multivitamin is recommended by physicians now because hardly any of us eat a balanced meal. Think about if you consume 10 servings of fruits and vegetables, fish 3-4 times a week, etc.... How do you cook your food? Does the cooking method retain the nutrition in your diet, are you having the recommended intake of fiber, protein, carbs, oils? Are you stressed? Do you get enough sleep?
The answer is probably no. So taking at least a multivitamin fills in some of the nutritional gaps we have and helps us stay healthier as we age.
In fact, my daughter's pediatrician told me to give even my kids a multivitamin because most kids are picky eaters and may not get all the nutrients they need.
Regarding how many types of supplements one should take, I say it depends on your family history and any specific conditions you may have. For example, I have been asked to take a Calcium & Magnesium supplement because I don't drink enough milk and I have some issues in that area. My husband takes an omega fatty acid supplement because he has a family history of heart disease and his doctor highly recommended that as he doesn't eat enough fish.
Regarding yellowing of teeth, I personally haven't experienced that even though I have been taking supplements for over 6 years now. I think it's the quality and source of the vitamins you take that may affect it.
i just started with a One A Day for women ... my brother who worked for GNC recd. that one (GNC is the same but more expensive)...he told me not to take anything that gives u more energy...they have a lot of calories and will make u gain weight.
MultiVitamin is very good for you. Also, you can take different vitamins for different reasons. For example, many people take Vitamin E for hair and skin. Fish oil is also very good. You should ask your doctor before starting anything though.
