Aborting a baby

I don’t know what this world is coming to… just found out a relative of mine (think sort of husband’s cousin) made his wife abort their baby because he doesn’t want to have kids right now and wants her to focus on her career. The girl told her mother-in-law after she was forced to do so by her husband… mother-in-law was horrified and shocked. When I heard I was speechless.

They were born and raised and live in Pakistan by the way (before ppl start blaming the west for this) and are moderately religious people, the couple even did an Umrah recently… I’m just beyond shocked.

I want to yell at that guy and tell him he committed murder, also ask the girl how could she let him do that to her… she should have been stronger and involved her parents-in-law but my husband said don’t discuss this, stay away from all of it… that guy will just make things more difficult for his wife if he finds out she told her MIL and now we know too :bummer:

Re: Aborting a baby

That's totally disgusting.

Career, what the heck is she a Nasa shuttle pilot or something? For a few extra rupees per month he killed his kid, tawba tawba.

:ast:
All I can say is May Allah keep us all on the right path and have tawakkal on Allah.

Re: Aborting a baby

that's horrible. i found out recently a girl in the circle had an abortion because her husband and her were close to a divorce. she talked to him and her mother and his mother together and they all came to the agreement that it's okay for them to abort the child. the idea of custody battles if they do divorce or bringing a child into such a non stable home environment was their reasonings. i literally cried when i heard that but i didn't let her realize it and was trying to be supportive but the whole time i was looking at them like how the hell could your life come to this? how dare everyone become so selfish to terminate a beautiful gift from god. how could pakistani elders allow his to happen or believe it's the right thing for the couple? at the same time maybe this was needed bc both parties have grown stronger and their love is solid again where as before there was violence at home and cops being called. I have learned to not impose my views on others life is a lot easier that way but this really bothered me mentally for a few nights.

Re: Aborting a baby

Allah O akbar . What the world is coming to. May Allah save us all from committing these horrible acts of stupidity. Ameen.

Re: Aborting a baby

wow that is extreme and these people live in pakistan i've never heard of that happening there i feel sorry for the wife although yea she should have been more stronger saying she didn't want it to happen........what i don't understand is why she waited until after the abortion to tell her MIL if she wanted to keep the baby then i agree with you mA she should have involved her in-laws when she was still pregnant

Re: Aborting a baby

What a......

Does guy know anything about contraception?

Re: Aborting a baby

chances are the husband intimidates/scares her and the idea of being divorce scares her so she didnt' have the guts to call the elders for some help

Re: Aborting a baby

yea that is true and is a sad reality in our culture

Re: Aborting a baby

I'm not in any way trying to justify the abortion in the OP's story. But I was curious about the Islamic rulings for abortion.

And what I've read is that at 120 days...the soul enters the foetus. And aborting prior to the 120 days is considered unlawful BUT "less" of an evil compared to doing it after the 120 day period. And in some cases aborting before 120 days is permissible depending upon the situation....I guess this can include circumstances like rape, etc.

Abortion after 120 days is considered equivalent to murder....but...some scholors permit abortion after 120 days....in the event that there's a dire situation....such as danger to the mother's life.

It can depend upon the situation. And it's good to have some general knowledge about the rulings (exceptions/conditions) regarding such a serious matter.

Re: Aborting a baby

^RV.... thats what my husband was saying too, he was talking about the Islamic ruling..... I don't have much knowledge about that.... does anyone else know the details?

Still, I just can't get over the fact that he did that for his own convenience ..... it was his own baby, apni kismet khud lai kar aata hai bacha...... I'm getting too upset over this, maybe more because I'm pregnant myself.

Re: Aborting a baby

sad. but how can he 'make' her have an abortion though? she should have involved family then, telling family now when the deed is done is pointless i think.

Re: Aborting a baby

You cannot abort a child in Islam just because it isn't the right time...I mean didn't you know what can be done to prevent pregnancy...?? There are millions of folks in this world who'd do anything to have a child of their own...and here we have someone who takes that for granted. Career? Why can't she have a career and carry a baby as well? What's the big deal.

Re: Aborting a baby

That girl should leave the man coz all he is interested in his Wife's money ,
and thats got nothing to do with pakistan or west or what ever A** *****S are every where and thats a fact

Re: Aborting a baby

wow
discussing somebody's private life on a public forum. thumbs up.

Re: Aborting a baby

I am not sure why her career would have suffered because she was having a baby. Millions of working girls have a family and pregnancy is part of it. I myself had a baby and I work full-time and made arrangements to have my mom baby sit our daughter while we work. This excuse cannot be justified..A child is a blessing from Allah and they took away the blessing that Allah was giving them.

Re: Aborting a baby

Oh this makes me so angry. That idiot cant resist (I am sorry and I know I said it earlier) mounting his wife but he is ready to take the life of an unborn kid just because he thinks wife should make more money ..

Oh I wish I had a Ginsu knife in my hand and that guy on an operating table in front of me

Re: Aborting a baby

If they didn't feel ready that is what contraception is for.. If something goes wrong with that then u should get on and deal with the pregnancy as best as u can..

RV is right tho, as awful as it might sound religiously speaking if it's done within a certain time frame some scholars say it can sometimes be permissable according to the situation.. I always thought in cases of rape, incest or danger to the mother's health the rulings were totally eased tho..

Actually this reminds me of that messy situation with that actress/model Laila Rouass and her other half, Nasa Khan, who told her to have an abortion but she kept the baby anyway and then he dumped her and then a while later reconciled but then split up again.. hmmm actually don't think they were even legally married, just had a nikah..
