Re: Ablution before Quran!
If it is just the translation and NO arabic text, then it's NOT a proper Qur'aan and that means you do NOT need to have vuzuu to read it.
even with Arabic text, if you do NOT touch the MusHaf, you do NOT require to make vuzuu. it's of course to better to make vuzuu before reading it. therefore, reading Qur'aan online does NOT require you to have vuzuu [again it's better to have vuzuu].
also, reading it from your memory doesn't require you to have vuzuu and one last thing, if you are teaching Qur'aan to kids you can read from it ONLY less than a complete aayat. touching Qur'aan without vuzuu is a big NO NO!

im talking about instances about where there is arabic text and translation as well.
Obviously I would still perform ablution in any case but what is the Islamic opinion on this?

of course, if there is an arabic text, it's a Qur'aan and one must respect and care as any other Qur'aan with just Arabic text.
yes, it's always best to have vuzu before handling Qur'aan.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
KKF, could you please provide Quranic reference for your claims. Thanks.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace,
Scholars/Aalim have different opinion on that but before we discuss whether a Qur'an should be touched/read with or wihout ablution. First of all we need to know that is ablution is mandatory or not. Anyone would like to explain why ablution is mandatory?
Re: Ablution before Quran!
KKF is right on that
Guys your not getting my point. The point of the discussion was that a 'Qur'an' which has translation is considered a Qur'an or not. The wudu bit is secondary.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace stonecold,
It will be cosidered only book of translation not divine words. I guess.

As KKF said, if it still contains Arabic text, it is still Quran.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
A Qur'an with only English translation does not have the same weight as a Qur'an that has both English and Arabic. The reason is the the true words of Allah were revealed and noted in the Arabic language and are therefore remain untainted. Wudhu before reading such a Qur'an (with Arabic) is mandatory/fardh. One can pick up a Qur'an that is purely in another language without wudhu.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace Niksik,
one more thing. What if a person only wants to read english from that which has both english and arabic text? Shall he/she have to do wudhu?
Re: Ablution before Quran!
ablution before Quraan (arabic) is not fardh
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace 1-10,
U mean while reading Quran ablution is not required?
Re: Ablution before Quran!
yes
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace 1-10,
Almighty Allah is 'Paak' and He likes one who clean him/herself so ablution is mandatory if we are about the touch the divine book.
Re: Ablution before Quran!
yes ua absolutely ryt but dis is not compulsory. Islam is easy
yeah Allah SWT said in Quraan dat dose who r pak shud touch it BUT wudu is not fard we shud be clean but ablution is not compulsory
Re: Ablution before Quran!
Peace 1-10,
Any reference or source where its written that ablution is not compulsory?
Re: Ablution before Quran!
yes of course i will show u but later bcoz now m on mob and cant type easily dats y
thank u
The distinction I am making here is a Qur’an which has Arabic and a translation (any language) and a Qur’an which has Arabic only.
Do you see what I mean?
