Ablution and Science

Acceptance of Islam due to the philosophy of Wudhu

A Muslim invited a university student in Belgium towards Islam and to his surprise, the student asked about the scientific benefits of Wudhu. The Muslim became speechless therefore he took the student to a scholar but the scholar could not tell him either. Eventually, a person told this student many benefits of Wudhu but could not tell him the benefits of wiping the neck so the student left. A few days later, the student came and said, ‘During a lecture, my professor said that if you wipe the back of your neck on both sides with a few drops of water, you will be saved from spinal illnesses. Upon hearing this I fully understood the virtue and benefits of wiping the neck in Wudhu and therefore I want to accept Islam’ and he became a Muslim.

:salam:

Can you please elaborate which spinal disease we are referring to here?

First of all, there are only 4 steps for ablution and wiping the neck is not one of them.[Quran 5:6] O you who believe, when you observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), you shall:
(1) wash your faces,
(2) wash your arms to the elbows,
(3) wipe your heads, and
(4) wash your feet to the ankles.
Secondly, the Islamic scholar is lying. There is no mention in the Quran of water drops preventing spinal disease, let alone scientific evidence. It is simply an attempt to justify man-made innovations added to the ablution ritual. GOD is very, very clear in 5:6 how to perform the ablution. 4 steps. No more, no less.

Re: Ablution and Science

it is mustahab (Desirable) to wipe hands on the neck. Anything mustahab means if you do it you get reward, but if someone skips it, it's not a sin.

Re: Ablution and Science

^Atleast in the Jaafari fiqh, it is not.

Re: Ablution and Science

Yet another attempt to try to prove benefit of every religious act scientifically.

I don't think it is needed at all. It does not help but creates more arguments and can backfire.

Well, the Quran is very clear that only four steps are decreed for Ablution, no more, no less. Anybody who says that it is more than four steps is attributing falsehood to GOD and we all know from Quran that is a gross offense.

I can never understand why so many muslims are so adamant about NOT doing what GOD says in the Quran. Ablution is just one example. The human being is sooo disobedient.

Re: Ablution and Science

Seminar in Western Germany
Depression is on the rise in the western countries and more mental asylums are becoming full with patients. Psychiatrists are always investigating cures for depression. A Pakistani psychiatrist who holds a diploma in Western Germany states, 'A seminar took place in Western Germany on a cure for depression without the need of medication.' A doctor attended this seminar and surprised the audience by saying that he was treating his patients by making them wash their face 5 times a day and within a short period of time the treatment started to have an effect. He then treated another group of patients by making them wash their hands, feet and face 5 times a day and they also started to recover from their illnesses. At the end of the speech the doctor said, 'I confess that fewer Muslims suffer from depression as they wash their hands, face, and feet many times in a day by performing Wudhu.'

Re: Ablution and Science

^^

The story neither provides the name of the Pakistani, nor the name of the conference, or when it took place.

I personally detest this strange attitude by Muslims who seem desperate to look to science for validation of beliefs. What is the need for it? Is obedience to Allah SWT not enough for us?

As far as I am concerned, there need not be any physiological reason to wudhu at all. Whatever Allah SWt has commanded as mandatory is what we should do. We need not seek to justify it, least of all with what are likely mere rumour and fabrication.

Re: Ablution and Science

Wudhu and high blood pressure
A heart specialist says with importance that those who have high blood pressure should be made to perform Wudhu and most definitely, the blood pressure will become normal. A Muslim doctor says, 'The best cure for depression is Wudhu.' Western doctors treat their patients by placing water on some parts of their body, which is just like Wudhu.

Re: Ablution and Science

Wudhu and paralysis
While performing Wudhu, the body parts are washed in a certain order and there are many benefits regarding this. When the hands are washed first, the nerves become aware of the water. Slowly, the effects travel to the face and the veins of the brain. The one who washes his hands first during Wudhu followed by rinsing of the mouth and sniffing of the nose, then washing the face followed by the rest of the body parts is saved from becoming paralysed. If the individual starts Wudhu by washing his face and neck first, he/she will have many illnesses.

Re: Ablution and Science

This is utter rubbish. There is no western treatment for depression connecting water and treating depression, other than DRINKING water (which you don't do as part of wudhu)

Secondly, there is absolutely no scientific basis at all for the claim that nerves in the hand detecting water has any connection to the face or flow of blood in the veins.

This is obviously another case of Muslims desperately seeking to rationalise religious activity rather than simply, unconditionally, submitting to the will of Allah SWT!!!

We do not need to understand Allah SWT's commands. We need only follow them! What are we going to try next? Are we going to try and find some scientific reason why we are allowed up to 4 wives, rather than 3 or 5? Are we going to try and find some health benefit from praying 5 times a day, rather than 4, or 6? Are we going to try and find some health benefit in not killing the innocent in war? Are we going to look for some health benefit in why we can marry the Ahl-e-Kitaab but not polytheists?

Enough! Just submit to Allah's will and stop trying to justify it!

Jinaab kiyon apna BP high kar rahay hain, go soak urself.

People here are followers of Qur'an and Sunnah as documented or transmitted through scholars or both ... if you don't like it that is fine, but try not to act as though you are the only lonely figure standing on truth and everyone else is wrong ... no one agrees with you on these sorts of comments.

Hey, I’m not saying you are wrong. The Quran is saying you are wrong. Just read these consecutive verses. Hadith & Sunna: Fabrications by the Prophet’s Enemies
[Quran 6:112] We have permitted the enemies of every prophet - human and jinn devils - to inspire in each other fancy words, in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications.

  • Important Criterion*
[6:113] This is to let the minds of** those who do not believe in the Hereafter** listen to such fabrications, and accept them, and thus expose their real convictions.

  • Quran: Fully Detailed**
[6:114] Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt. ](Chapter 6, Livestock (Al-An ‘ãm) Footnotes)
[6:115] The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient. ](Chapter 6, Livestock (Al-An ‘ãm) Footnotes)
[6:116] If you obey the majority of people on earth, they will divert you from the path of GOD. They follow only conjecture; they only guess.
Hence, your issue is with GOD, not me. I’m just acknowledging the truth in the Quran.

Well Said barqun!

Yes Diwana Ji.............better not mention that to the Southern Baptists......

You know the Prez George Bush of Texas..............

Who taught you to stand in Qiyaam first......then do ruku and then do sajda?

Well?

Thanks for sharing barqun!

Re: Ablution and Science

Just do your wudhu.

Who taught you ?!?!

What to say when bowing & prostrating, when to bow and prostrate, and how many bowings & prostrations to do, most definitely DID NOT come from your hadiths & Sunnah. See for yourself. QSS.ORG :: QSS Online Books :: Sifatu Salat-in-Nabee (saws) :: Recitation All is mentions is the number of units and suras recited - which is NOT what Abraham did for salat because he did not have QUran to recite. It mentions bowing and prostrating, but not when, what to say or how many. So, your claim is already moot.

Secondly, all the religious duties were already intact before Prophet Muhammad. They came to use from Abraham, and Muhammad was enjoined to follow the religion of Abraham.

Thirdly, Quran states very clearly that Muhammad was commanded not to issue any other religious teachings other than the Quran of GOD would have stopped the revelations to him.

Fourth, 3:81 states a messenger will come after all the scriptures given to the prophets have been revealed and confirm them all. If he is to confirm them, he would have to have knowledge of what they were given, which would include the religious duties given to us through Abraham.

Fifth, all REAL messengers come with proofs (miracles) from GOD that they are, in fact, GOD’s messenger. The messenger stated in 3:81 was given the math miracle of QUran.

Sixth, as per GOD’s decree in 3:81, he purified the religion and restored the religious duties back to their original pristine purity.

Of course, I do not expect you to believe me. Nevertheless, the math miracle is real. Anybody who is sincerely seeking the truth, GOD will guide them to it. Inevitably, the sincere will abandon the corrupted Islam (Sunni, Shia, etc.). Those of you seeking real answers, can find them here.
