Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

No need to cry like a baby after I've exposed your lies.

Murtaza was killed in a shootout because his goons thoughts (like him) that Pakistan was their baap ki jageer. His men tried to strong arm the police and opened fire. Police fired back. He was a convicted terrorist and resorted to such tactics before his death. Police shot back and killed him.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

He was a criminal and an incompetent politican. He thought he could bully his political opponents and the world. Good thing is that he got his ass kicked from both sides.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party

Bhutto refused to accept the results of the fairest election held in Pakistani history in 1971 - that under military rule as well. Then Zulfikar Bhutto went on in 1977 to give us the most rigged elections in the history of the country - where his PPP ““won”” 99% of the seats!

General Elections 1977](http://www.storyofpakistan.com/articletext.asp?artid=A142)

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

^ When it comes to rigging the honours goes to Zia and Musharrafs refrendum. Nothing beats them, they were a lesson in how to rig elections.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Actually the elections held by the military and bureaucratic establishment were considered the most rigged with 100% results in favour of the military.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Wrong. ZAB did the **first **mass rigging in Pakistani history in 1977, even before Zia and Musharraf got on the electoral scence, and even they have not topped his 99% record. Now you can't blame the military in any form or shape for ZAB's MASS RIGGING of elections can you? :)

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Wrong the honour of first rigging goes to another military dictator Ayub Khan, he rigged elections against Fatima Jinnah. The worst rigging was by Zia and Musharraf.

By most accounts the elections of 1977 were not that badly rigged as was evident from the agreement foro fresh elections which was sabotaged by a moron called Zia on the orders from his masters.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party

Wrong the first rigging of any elections in Pakistan goes back to the early 1950’s when our esteemed politicians of the day rigged provinvicial elections. BUT, the first NATIONAL party-based parliamentary elections were only held in 1970/71 - under the military - considered to be the fairest in our history, which ZAB utterly rejected as we all acknowledge.

The second NATIONAL party-based parliamentary elections were held in 1977, and ZAB RIGGED them so much that overall P. P. P. gained 99 percent seats](http://www.storyofpakistan.com/articletext.asp?artid=A142). To this day no military ruler or any other politician has won by hook or crook more than 99%!

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

^ Dictators like Zia and Musharraf don't need to, they eliminate all opposition before getting themselves elected. I think you need to go back to look at the 1977 results and will find that your analysis are wrong.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party

Earlier you said that first mass rigging honour goes to ZAB and now you are going back to 1950 or are you going to say that it was not mass rigging and how do you define mass rigging. PPP won 155 seats out of 200 NA seats, maybe my maths is weak but it does not constitute 99%, maybe you have been following Musharraf too closely.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party

Before 1970/71 Pakistan did not have any NATIONAL parliamentary elections - and those were the most free and fair ever, a fact recognised even today. In 1977 the second NATIONAL parliamentary elections were held, and the fact is that Bhutto RIGGED them in such a manner overall P. P. P. gained 99 percent seats. Check the link - not written by me or Musharraf.

Also, from TIME Magazine from that period.

The P.P.P. polled an incredible 93% of the vote in Punjab, the country’s most populous province and an opposition stronghold. It was a dazzling victory—except that practically everybody in Pakistan assumed that the elections had been massively rigged by Bhutto’s zealous supporters.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Ehsan- easy explanation, he simply doesn't know what he is talking about, and relies on 'dubious' sources for his 'facts'.

What else can we expect from somene who calls himself 'silly'? :D

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People's Party

Coming back to 2007, I do not think next election is going to be rigged (or at least I hope so), but a degree of manipulation is expected. Most politicians willingly allow themselves to be manipulated because they know that in the eyes of an ordinary citizen, they are no more competent and no less dictatorial than the dictator they are competing against.

Re: Abida, Fakhar announce to join Pakistan People’s Party

Yes, that is a realistic assessment of the power politics that has always existed in Pakistan going back to the 1950’s. The only truly free and fair National election was the very first one in 1970/71, and that produced unpredictable results which not many in modern (then West) Pakistan wanted to accept. After that election all National elections (1977, 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1997 and 2002) have been “rigged” to one extent or another - by politicians and fauji’s alike. In every case the losers have cried foul, and this blame game will continue whoever is in power.

I believe the 2007/08 elections will be more “free” than in previous attempts, because this time round the opposition parties are accepting that Musharraf is here to stay, especially as he is now making assertive efforts to build a moderate front (PPP-P, MQM, ANP etc) along with the PML Q against the mullahs. Here is another interesting story reported in today’s Nation.

Mian Azhar seeks PPP’s ticket

Mian Azhar, former President of PML (Q) is striving hard to get PPP ticket for his son and brother, but he is less likely to join the party as is being speculated in political circles, sources disclosed here on Sunday. According to PPP sources, Mian Azhar has established contact with PPP leadership, courtesy Syeda Abida Hussain, who recently joined the party at London. Reportedly, the former PML (Q) leader is also seeking PPP’s help for his election as MNA from a constituency in Lahore. In return, Mian Azhar has assured his all out support for the PPP during and after the coming general elections.
