But I’m inclined to trust his word, considering he has dedicated his life to picking up dead bodies and has never been accused of abusing the almost billion dollars he has received in aid to date. One thing I hope everyone notes is the name of the other person involved in this, Mr. Hamid Gul. You see, PTI supporters, when we say your Great Leader is a Taliban without a beard, and is WAY too close to certain elements in the ISI, we’re not insane. Again you are putting words in my mouth. I wrote something else and you have interpreted it as something else. My urdu is just slightly weak so I cannot pretend to fully understand what Edhi Sahib is saying. However from what I make of it, can you tell me why Hamid Gul and Imran Khan personally went over to Edhi Sahib and held a gun to his head and asked him to leave the country? and what did they hope to achieve? I think I remember that period vaguely....there was a lot of trouble in Karachi and army was conducting an operation against MQM and a lot of personalities in Karachi were being assassinated presumably by MQM? Hamid Gul had retired from the Army (having previously been removed from ISI by Benazir at the request of U.S), at that time and PPP government was conducting the operation? Imran Khan was probably preoccuppied with his mothers health and was soon to launch his campaign to build a cancer hospital. Or perhaps I am getting the period mixed up.
Thats sad, but Benazir’s 2nd government was till 1996, and in 1996 Imran Khan laid foundation of PTI, there was only 4 months of overlap, so he had so much power right from beginning with ISI that he wanted to take the government down?
I think Mr. Edhi should stay clear of politics. If you wrestle with pigs you will get dirty, and he is a man of honor who has done too much good for humanity to throw all that away at this age.
Yes the main reason for the interview seems to be to make these startling accusations and to start the smear campaign. I am not saying that Edhi Sahib is lying but that he is being manipulated by someone else. Can someone tell me did Edhi sahib personally see Hamid Gul and Imran Khan pull a gun on him and threaten him.
I think if the public could exercise analytical skills then they would come to the same conclusion as me. It seems that the election is on the horizon and political campaigns have started already. Now instead of judging the various politicians through their arguments, policies, logic or substance.... some politicians who have repeatly failed are trying to encourage us to vote based on emotions and negative at that.
I don't think these smear campaigns will affect the educated voters but with others some mudslinging may stick against Imran Khan.
Edhi is very credible person, well the most credible person in Pakistan right now. Having said that, Imran Khan have to come out and clear his position. This is very serious allegation, i am not accepting the fact as some of the PTI followers are saying around the web "that edhi took money" .. it's nonsense.
I heard about a plan for coup in early 1990s by some army officers with the backing of Hakeem Muhammad Saeed, Edhi and others. If Imran was also part of it, well that is a shocking news for me.

I have huge respect for Abdul Sattar Edhi and always only contribute to his charities in Pakistan, but this statement of his is very puzzling, political and frankly bizzare timing. Why wait 15 years to make this statement now? Also, as mentioned by a previous poster he was a keen supporter of military President Musharraf, which contradicts what he is saying above?

He said Imran was part of that group but he did not said that Imran was the one behind the threat. I am not sure why Imran's supporters are going all the way and appear to look fool.
