Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Okay … Well I think that is crazy … The leader of a nation now has no control over security and no control over his wife and the media picks up this story to blame who exactly? :hehe:

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Maybe he isnt guilty of embezzlement or nepotism, but as a politician he must have special interests, lobby groups etc that he needs on his side. And how does one serve those interests without getting involved in the system and the corruption that is part of it? Either he ignores it, which is in itself rather corrupt, or he finds ways to make things happen by working in and sometimes around the system... and that sort off corruption goes undetected because its written off as business as usual, and because corruption that gets results is the sort of thing people overlook, being more concerned with things like nepotism and theft.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Well there has to be someone or someones who are in charge of security…
With Modi being as popular and powerful as he is, isnt it possible that he can find some way of influencing said persons either directly or indirectly?

Im sorry, but I simply cant believe Modi could have done all that he has done in India given the endemic corruption in the system without knowing how to manipulate it and arm twist where needed.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Its not crazy, its standard practice all over the world. Even American president has to follow orders of his security.

Media being just media.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

She has already filed an RTI with the govt to know the details. We will know when she knows it.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Correct me if im wrong, but didnt Indira Gandhi choose to have Sikhs as her bodyguards, against the wishes of advisers? And then was assassinated for her troubles...

How did she get to choose her own security if its not her call?

I had heard this in documentary I once saw..

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

So its possible you admit that Modi has at the very least, an indirect influence over such security matters?

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Indira was from Congress. Congress <> true democracy.

Modi democracy is the best democracy.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

I dont get it… Congress can control security but Modi cant (or wont). Clearly if the Congress could do it, Modi can as well. That you believe he doesnt just seems to be a conclusion based on wishful thinking.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

For Modi fans, everything he does is brilliant.

A case in point:

Congress sought nuclear deal with India and there was a talk of ‘concessions’ for US companies if there is an accident (a la Bhopal)…

Manmohan may carry nuclear liability dilution as gift for U.S. companies - The Hindu

BJP cried hoarse over it and the deal didn’t go through.

Now BJP does the same and it is hailed as an amazing achievement: Obama and Modi agree to limit US liability in case of nuclear disaster | World news | The Guardian

Now, whatever you say, you’ll get a response that India under Modi is doing fantastic and it was in deep **** during congress rule. So, Modi’s wife getting security is an epitome of democratic values according to Modi fanboys and as a true torchbearer of democratic values, he would not exert influence on such matters.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Dont know about that. I think by that time security to PM was provided by delhi police. SPG was created after her assassination.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Modi has influence over everything in his govt and his party. But matters which are highlighted in media and security matters wont be touched by him.

And why would he do it anyways, its not his job.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Now you guys are just digressing. Modi and his wife is his own business. Security is state's business. Everyone is doing their job so who cares.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Where she lives is her decision. The MHA can decide if she should get security or not (maybe Modi had some input in that), but they cannot force her to live anywhere.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Does he want to live with her ? In a marriage both spouses have to agree.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

So, it is not 'her decision' as you were implying earlier.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Looks like you are having comprehension problems. Here, let me simplify - the state cannot decide where she lives, its her decision. That's the right of an individual in a democracy. However, she cannot force her husband to live with her, since he also has the right to chose where he lives. She can chose to go rent a house in New Delhi and live close to her husband if that's what she chooses.

Make sense ?

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

Yes, Sir.

P.S. Chill bro.

Re: Abandoned as a child bride, India’s first lady still hopes her husband will call

I think people have that right even in most Non-Democracies.
