aap is used to give respect to elders and also to acquaintances [not close friends]...it's also used as a cultured word even to address younger ones...Lucknow meN sabhii aap janaab se bolte haiN...tum kaa lafz bahot rare hai.
aap ke saath khaaoge is wrong...aap khaayeNge is correct.

aap is used in formal conversations and to give respect
Tum is used commonly in conversations between friends but some kids use tum while speaking with their parents/elders
Grammatically both are correct

when i was in school i used to say aap while talking with my friends then one day my friend took me to a corner and said
Ye tum ny kiya aap aap lagai hy khabardar jo ainda aap kaha :halo:

Mostly Urdu speaking people use HUM for even singular use

I use aap for elders & in formal conversations(regardless of age). I use tum for my v close friends and for people younger to me(informal convo).
Microbian k liye I use aap kabhi n tum kabhi ![]()

Once I asked someone why they used hum instead of mai…I was told…mai mai takabbur ata hai…hum is down to earth…I was like whaaaatttt ![]()

you mean its wrong...but considered correct...
So shouldn't we try to motivate people to use the correct form ?
