A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

They did not do this in the west!! They did it in the UAE - UNITED ARAB EMIRATES..they would have received NO NEGATIVE ATTENTION if they covered themselves from HEAD TO TOE!!

and no one is asking anyone to go stark naked!! They want this law because they feel it is threat to their security..and I am all for the indecency act..I dnt need to see ppl walking around naked with their stuff dangling all over the place...if ppl want to walk around naked...they have nude beaches and nude villages.

I understand it is unfair for these ladies, but it is the law of the country. I also know they are discussing the same law in Quebec, Canada.

and all i said was SOME ladies are forced..not all..

Yes it is both wrong!! But it is the law of BOTH countries - KSA and France - One is to cover up and one is take off the naqab. I dnt think I said anywhere that France was right...

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

law of the land...this excuse is to serve western nations....

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

no one wear abaya in uae

:omg: :rotfl:

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Making a LAW on niqab is fundamentally wrong.

While KSA uses religion for such law, France uses hatred.

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Yea..jst like they have the law to serve arab nations!

WOW!!! ur awesome!!!

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Reminds me of a quote from a Yemen based peace Nobel Laureate woman, Tawakul karman, which I had recently received through a listserv email

When asked about her Hijab By Journalists and how it was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, she replied:

"Man in early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times''

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

some arab lady who herself is free to remove her naqab is forced by her family :omg: :rotfl:

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

I did not talk about any country in my question. (The video also did not have anything to do with France or KSA)

It has to do with free will.

You seem to think all women who wear niqab somehow forced based on maybe some of your observations.

If a woman says she wants to wear niqab then she should be free to do so.

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

^SERIOUSLY???

where did i say ALL!!! I said SOME SOME SOME!!!

Gosh ppl seem to be blind!!!

She can be covered from head to toe for all I care - if she is fine with it what do I care. I said SOME are forced (because some ppl think that who ever is wearing a niqab is happily wearing it)- so please don’t twist my words around.

This is my original post :

Definition of SOME1**:** being an unknown, undetermined, or unspecified unit or thing <some person knocked>

2a : being one, a part, or an unspecified number of something (as a class or group) named or implied <some gems are hard>
b : being of an unspecified amount or number <give me some water> <have some apples>

3: being at least one —used to indicate that a logical proposition is asserted only of a subclass or certain members of the class denoted by the term which it modifies

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

No one here has ever claimed that AL niqabits are unwilling in SA. the claim is at least SOME are unwilling, and are forced in SA.

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

The lady in the burqu claimes she has NEVEr met a single person who has been forced to wear a burqa. During the interview, the other lady (Mona?)indicated that the lady in burqa was well travelled. It is highly improbable that the lady has NEVER met a person who has been forced to wear a burqa. Some here wanted proof that I KNOW the lady is not speaking the truth. Of course that is impossible. For those with common sense and a bit of intelligence, it would be apparent that the lady's statement is not truthful.

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Some have indicated that this is not Saudi Arabia, so it should not be brought into the discussion as did the interviewer. I like Elliott Spitzer, the interviewer, ex-NY Attorney General and ex-NY governor. I respctfully disagree with Mr. Spitzer. He asked Mona (?) a yes or no question - has this ban based on religion been ever done before?

Mona at that time did get a bit excited, because just saying No would not give the accurate picture. Hence shoe had to bring clarity to the discussion by providing context. And the context was the stone age laws in Saudi Arabia.

Cheers!

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

"You seem to think all women who wear niqab somehow forced based on maybe some of your observations."

This is indicative of some serious comprehension issues. t has not been claimed ALL women who wear a Niqab are forced to do so. In fact, the claim by reasonable people here is "some are indeed forced to do so".

Cheers!

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Gosh ppl, are u blind, I said SEEM TO, SEEM TO,....

When you think only few maybe forced then why the argument for so long? Why not just say maybe they are not forced but they are being told to follow the religious interpretation of their families or elders? What's the big deal then?

If you do not think most women are forced then can you say:

" I do not think most women are forced to wear niqab but their choice should be respected. No law should be made to force them to take it off if they wish to wear niqab. These kind of laws are against freedom of religion."

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Here is the quote again - why do I feel I am wasting my time :(

""You seem to think all women who wear niqab somehow forced based on maybe some of your observations."

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Assumptions based on further speculations. She said she never saw anyone being forced. You just want to show you know her better than she does herself. Why do you want to do that?

Yes. You are.

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

^what ever - when I said SOME u think it equals SEEM to, the last thing I need is english lessons from you!!!

when I said SOME did you and the other 2 ppl have to jump on it as if I said ALL!!! so it goes both ways...if you have difficulty in understing..it is not my issue..

as I said stop twisting my words around and stop trying to make me your "Deewani"

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman

Most people with common sense when they see an interview make some judgments based on if a statement passes the sniff test. Her statement did not pass the sniff test with me. You are entirely entitled to live in your bubble.

Cheers :)

Re: A woman loses the debate with a muslim woman
