Re: A true friend to Pakistan

somthing burning

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

China did not do it in sympathy for Kashmir folks . It was done because India and China also have border dispute over Kashmir.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

Yeah  That border dispute, why do they care when they control the area and nobody marks that area as disputed on world maps?

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

China is a very practical country. It acts unemotionally looking out for its best interests. Concepts like friendship, sympathy, friendship, etc. have no place in their foreign policy. I admire them for this.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

LMAO! Yeah that is why they have been friends with Pakistan since the 1970s. Do tell us how do they benefit from a relationship with Pakistan with the end of Detente with the US? Its amazing that friendship is not considered a trait for Chinese Foriegn Policy by the Chinese. But when the Chinese think otherwise. Esp consider that their leaders speak in Urdu from time to time when they come to Pakistan.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

I am really surprised you don't know that a mature State's foreign policy is dictated by interests not by emotional rhetoric. Only immature countries allow themselves to be dictated by such rhetoric. India has been guilty of doing this many a times.

China is a "friend" to Pakistani State because it helps them to keep India tied down in South Asian region. Any rational individual will realize the fact that only a strong India can prevent China's hegemony in Asia.

Read up more about the trade deficit that Pakistan has with China and the fact that a lot of the local industries have been ruined by influx of cheap Chinese products into the Pakistani market.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

Like China cares about India. Look on the role of international actors India does not compare to China. Regardless of what you believe.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

Dear friend, anybody with a basic knowledge of International relations will tell you, there is no thing as an insignificant country. Even US "cares" about a tiny little State called Cuba since last 50 years.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

I am sorry but if that is you what you get taught in college please ask for a refund. Yes there are insignificant nations. Fiji, Palau, Maldives when comes to International politicals, economic discussion and so much more are insignificant. Regardless India and China are not of equal calibre. Doesn't matter what you think.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

Nope there aren't .That's just your superiority complex talking. There are countries which are relatively less powerful. But no nation is "insignificant".

What's your penchant for stuffing words in my mouth. I have said that only a strong India can prevent Chinese hegemony. How is this supposed to imply that India and CHina are of equal caliber.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

LOL! As you wish. Ignorance can be bliss :)

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

It sure as hell can be ..

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

While I do not agree that rejection of visas of army personnel from Indian-held Kashmir has a lot to do with China’s friendship with Pakistan ( athough it sure won’t hurt that either) this is not the first time something like this has happened.

China projects Kashmir as a separate country](http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/China-projects-Kashmir-as-a-separate-country-/articleshow/5139315.cms)

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

^^
Yep I commend them for ruthlessly pursuing their national self interest. This strategy is not due to “friendship” with Pakistan or “empathy” for Kashmiris but to keep India on the defensive and at the same time expand their sphere of influence. Just check out this story in NYtimes:

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

That is one commentator’s argument. And frankly pretty ridiculous at that. Keeping aside the simplistic proposition as to why Pakistan is not a U.S. ally, one can gauge very well the objectivity, or lack thereof, of the gentleman in question by his use of the phrase “Pakistan-occupied western portion of Kashmir.” Kashmir is variously described, in respectable mainstream international media, as usually just “administered” (BBC) or “Indian-held” ( the LAS Times) or “controlled” ( sometimes the NYT).

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

He is a very reputed Pulitzer prize winning journalist who “predicted” not just 1965 war in 1963 but also Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

Oh he is quite impartial he also calls Indian forces as “occupation forces”. So likely to piss off both Indian and Pak jingos.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

I believe in facts; not “predictions.” There are others too in the business of “predicting” things, whose words I would take with a bit of a salt. This article smacks of a good ol’ conspiracy theory ala the Hamid guy. This time only it is about yellow fever + Taliban Pakistan.

Re: A true friend to Pakistan

Maybe you should look a careful look at his Bio that I have posted. Comparing him to Zaid Hamid is quite ridiculous.
