Inzimam scored his 23 test century today, equalling Javed Miandad’s record as the highest test century makers for Pakistan. No doubt he will break Miandad’s record and score a few more.
Go Inzi.
A proud moment for him and all Pakistan cricket supporters. :k:
Lets leave the umpiring controversies out of this thread. This thread is to acknowledge the brilliance of his batting and the service he has given to Pakistan cricket over the years.
No doubt Inzi deserves a big tribute he has done wonders. While watching the match one of the commenter said during Miandad era no one thought Pak would produce a batsman of his caliber but I think Inzi made it to the top. Not many nations (cricket playing nations) are blessed with a player who could stand like a wall when the team needs him or when it really matters.
Inzi the great I wish he goes on and break Miandad's record along with that I wish he could reach 10,000 Test runs. Currently he is at 7, 855
During the match yesterday, Waqar Younis rated him as the best batsman that Pakistan has ever produced. He was asked by (I think) Paul Allot that if would rate him better than Miandad, and Waqar said that he would. The reason he gave was a strong one and it was that Inzi has played a lot more knocks under great pressure and have won the matches for Pakistan on numerous occassions. 17 out of his 23 hundreds have been in winning cause.
Lets not compare Miandad and Inzi. Both are greats gifted by God to Pakistan.
and as far as Inzi is concerned, I rember remarks from one of the expert on TV who said "I'll say to all youngster who are watching the game right now, dont move, you are watching one of the finest in the business"
now when i think of inzi, i will think of him like he is a vaccum! just sucks in all the pressure! the guy is simply amzing!! people say well he never performed against aussies-ok agreed, well warne never did n e thing special against indians- every great player has a bad record against 1 team. inzi is just simply amazing because it seems like he can perform when he wants to, when odds are stacked up he says to himself ok i will perform 2day. he scored relevant runs, which matter!! from baby faced smashing new zealend in semi final to now a bearded captain with 23 test centuries!!
He is a wonderful batsman, man of pressure. His performance has simply gone up after becoming captain of the side which is not an easy job. He is equalled previous Master’s record of centuries and :insha: he will make a record of his own. It has been pleasure all along watching his knocks in both Tests and ODIs (minus WC’03).
When I think of Inzi the first shot that comes to mind is an effortless, frontfoot pull over the midwicket. One of the best players of fast bowling...reminds me of Viv Richards, Martin Crowe, Dean Jones.
Inzi equaled Miandad's record but their style of play is quite different, hence the two champs can't be compared. Miandad was an artist, master of spin bowling, improviser and mostly kept the scoreboard ticking, whereas Inzi is a stroke player, amazing timer of the ball and a run machine. Both are match winners and team players.
the thing that amazes me the most is when he is settled in and playing fluently he seems as if he is playing with the bowlers....It really does look like that and even the commentators were saying the same thing, maybe this has been his downfall too, he gets so relaxed soemtimes and just plays around with the bowlers the genius that he is and often this leads to his dismissal.
He has been the backbone of our batting for so long.... Its will be a tough farewell when he leaves.... He has served the country well and done us proud... The way he is keeping the unity and fighting spirit in the current team is outstanding. The standards that he is setting as captain will help us in years to come... I am not sure if his batting averages in captaincy is a record... but he has definitely played his heart out in all the innings... My most memorable was the last ball 4 that he hit to Tendulkar after stopping the last 3-4 balls... also his World Cup 92 semi final performance.
:Salute: hats off wala icon
When i watched Inzimam for the first time, I had a feeling that he is very arrogent guy. The way he walks and his appearence makes him an overwhelming figure and somehow doesnt look that friendly. But after coming to Gupshup and been following him through a more impartial eyes and getting to know more about him, I feel that i was totally stupid in thinking like that.
Go on inzamam, u r treat to watch and please dont play well against India. I will give u a chocklate.:p
