Re: A tale of two wives

I know at least 2 people that have 2 wives. They are not happy needless to say. Both husbands make a lot of money so they can enjoy 2 wives. They are both in Pakistan and related to us.

Re: A tale of two wives

are you serious? wow!

Re: A tale of two wives

I have a distant relative who had about 3 or 4 daughters with his wife so he remarried and...............had another daughter. Think God's trying to tell him something!?

I know of a guy who was married to someone from the UK and on a trip to Pakistan, he went and got married to another woman. Apparently the first wife and her grown up sons are not happy. These kind of men really annoy me, cos how is he expecting to treat both wives fairly? With one living in a seperate country? Ridiculous.

Re: A tale of two wives

my best friend has two mums ..and both of them live at the same place ..very happily too!

the reason for uncle's marriage:

  1. the first wife didn't have any child and uncle waited for 18 years until his own wife convinced him to get married (so the Islamic criteria for consent from the first wife was fulfilled)
  2. the second wife (my friend's real mom) knew it since beginning and she happily accepted the situation.

For the first two years uncle kept both wives separately but after that ..she moved in too...she helped raised all the kids ..they love her as their own mom ...and both of them get along very well.

The Barri mom (as my friend and her siblings call her ) has her own room and all the kids used to sleep with her ...

it worked perfectly for them MA ...but both sides had to compromise and sacrifice alot ! and not everybody can do this

This thread reminds me of goodness gracious me! Rasmaleh!

Yeah God is trying tell him something especially as it's the male who determines the sex of the child... What a moron

Re: A tale of two wives

How can you have a paper divorce?

Re: A tale of two wives

MY dad has 2 wives, my mums the second, the first wife happily accepted my mum she has no children, and after a long time gave my mum permission to remarry, we all get along well, and out of all of us i get along with her the most. not a problem really

oh and all my chachus have 2 wives as well, everyone's happy alhamdulillah, seeing they always kept first wives interest at heart

personally never ever could i share my husband, very possessive i know

Re: A tale of two wives

Wow, Mashallah glad to hear a positive story about two wives.

Re: A tale of two wives

In my family, none that I know of. I know a few men (not within the family) who have multiple wives though.

Re: A tale of two wives

one of my mother's cousin had two wives for a few days, before his first wife committed suicide because of his re-marrying without her permission.

such a sad incident. i don't understand why people don't think of him as a murderer, and treat him with more disdain.

Re: A tale of two wives

Oh my God...that's really sad.

Re: A tale of two wives

My SIL's uncle has two wives, he's only in his late twenties or early thirties.. handful of kids as well.. Wife 1 was from 'back home' (his parents basically pushed him into it) and wife 2 was his gf and the one he wanted to marry all along..

He did actually ask wife 1 for a divorce before he married no.2 but she said she couldn't handle the 'shame' or something. The two wives seem to get on ok on the surface at least (they always go to ppls houses, weddings etc. with him, both are also now v.religious).. Seems to be ok for them at the moment but then again the kids are all still v.young..

I know of a couple of other cases where the kids were older (teenage and twenties) with nearly all of those ending up disowning their dad.. Obviously as they get older other factors tend to come into play eg. they realise that their mum might be the 'favourite' or 'second best' or not treated as nicely as the other(s) or they might feel resentment at their dad for not being around a lot of the time..

I'm not against polygny in principle but I do think it usually only works when the first wife (and kids) are aware of what the guy is planning to do in the first place, there are no nasty secrets and they support his decision and from his end he treats everyone *fairly and equally.. *

Re: A tale of two wives

Oh my gosh how terrible!! :(

Re: A tale of two wives

My grandfather, two of my uncles.

Re: A tale of two wives

A tale of three brothers is called Deathly Hallows and a tale of two wives is called the deathly fellows (pun is purely intentional) :)

Aside from joke, I do not personally know such people though have met a few. No one in the immediate family.

Re: A tale of two wives

There was an uncle who had three wives, 16 kids 1 cow and 8 rabbits.

He was a nice man, every wife and all kids loved him endlessly, not sure about the cow.

All wives and kids lived under the same roof in a pleasant and peaceful city, Abbotabad.

One day few aliens came and took him away to some unknown place.

Wives are sad, so are kids. Nobody knows about cow.
