Re: A tale of two wives
Okay my cousin has two MILs, and they live together in a house peacefully. Her FIL married the second woman because she belonged to a very poor family.

Re: A tale of two wives
My mother's khala was a second wife to her husband. Both wives lived in separate houses, but just across the street and surprisingly got along well. The first wife and husband have passed away but I know that all the kids (from both wives) are like a proper family and get along very well.
Re: A tale of two wives
One it is!
Re: A tale of two wives
Nobody in my family.
In California there was this desi store plus cafe owner who had two wives who used to work side by side him on his store and cafe. During conversation he would tell you that both of these women are his wives.
Although in USA polygamy is against the law.
He used to tell that the other woman was wife of his friend who died and she had nowhere to go after the death of her husband therefore he married her.

None. I knew only 2 people with more than 1 (one even had 3) wives at one time, Never met anyone else after that.

Couldn't he just have financially supported her ?

I don't know the whole story neither I've ever talked to him otherwise I would've asked.
Re: A tale of two wives
Oh, you would have actually asked him that? Seems a rather strong qs to ask of your cousin's FIL. Brave thing to do.
I was just asking a hypothetical qs. That is, why marry? if you find a poor woman, just give her some financial support. That's it.

Yeah I agree with you but he must have some other reasons too.
There's another married guy I know who fell in love with a woman and married her but didn't leave his first wife either coz she doesn't want divorce.

If you are Muslim, do you find Islam repulsive as well?

I haven't even seen the wives so what can I say but I've heard they're about the same age.

Please, let's not go into this debate. He didn't mention Islam and also that's his personal opinion.
It's just that some people living in West are alien to such concepts and hence find them repulsive, similarly other people would find a lot of things repulsive about western culture.
