"My friend told me that she heard on QTV that Khuwaja Mueen ud Deen Chishti went to a village for preaching. He went into a Masjid to offer prayer. The village chauhdary did not let him to offer prayer. This made him angry. He came out of Masjid and hold the branch of a tree in anger and stood there for 12 years.
After 12 years, Shams Tabrezi came and recited Quran at his back, this reduced his anger and then he moved."
I firmly believe that these things are alien to these people. They were pious people and did not do such things. Even Prophets AS ate and spent normal human life with their families.
Why do people tell such stories? i.e. that Sufi was stopped from offering 1 prayer then he did not offer prayers for years? Is this helping Islam?

Well, I think its just a misconceptions or some people try to make false statmen or incomplete iformation.
If you try to search net you will also find many strange things said about these sufis which is agains Islam , and people try to say these sufis say this , I ask a question from these people , In pakistan mostly the Islam is spread by these sufis and we never heard such wrong thing nor apply in our life , this mean these sufis never speread some thing against Islam.
But Sufis don't get angry ... they love trees too much to burden them with their weight ... and they recognise that a masjid is not the only place to pray.
But whoever hung on that tree ... could he not offer his prayers whilst hanging?
You need not reply ... Agendas become apparent far too quickly. Peace
Sister_J.....we know you're studying Arabic and Quran and are greatly moved by the bidaa'h happenings around you. I have seen dozens of people going into that phase, some got lost and some came to the balanced approach. After some time you will find yourself in either group. May Allah help you.
As for the fiction thrillers associated with Sufis, not everything is true in those books. Sufis did show some karamat only when needed, but things that are 180 to the Sharia are mainly added to their credential to sensationalize those clean souls, unfortunately this is needed by Khanqah owners for their own marketing. Just like a lot of sayings associated with Ali R.A and Jafar Sadiq R.A are not true in all Shia books, same goes with the Sufi books as well. People did made up a lot for their own likeness.

Please quote the source and not what TV said or your 'friend' told you.
Why would the village chaudhary sahib not allow him to pray in the first place? xD
May be he was a Non-Muslim. I don't know. Such stories are told to make people believe in divine powers of Sufies that they can live without eating, drinking, sleep for a long time.

Peace Sister_J
Have you heard about the marathon monks? They go without food, drink and sleep for a long time.
I guess it is a matter of practice and self-discipline and part of that self-assurance comes from the belief that Allah (SWT) has power to sustain us.
This is not special to Sufis this is what we as Muslims believe. For those who deny the gifts that Allah (SWT) gives to the pious have not understood the fundamental 'reality' of this world. Allah (SWT) can grant anything He likes.
If a Non Muslim ..can claim VV this below .. and even the scientists are dazzled as to how this is possible .. they why cant Allah give the Muslims who are pious the ability to live without eating drinking etc…
SISTER J sorry to disturb you again, but i am finished with your stories which are **told you by your friends
My friend told me this my friend told me that,,,,last time i asked you who was your friend and you said its on shiachat.com this means you have shia friends.on one side you make friends with shia muslims and other side you loathe them. What a shame.
THey are holding Quran burning events and we are fighting here for 12 years of God knows what, that has nothing to do with religion or us at this time of age.
