sorry if a definition of a man's success is going to be defined by such measures which reduce a man to his earning power, then men have all right to claim that the amount of booty they can financially support is a mark of their success.
Zobs, a good education may not always land you in a high earning position…there are many people without formal degrees who are financially very successful.

No. We are just discussing one aspect of success.
Why do we make dua’a for rizq?
Enough to live and some to leave behind for the children.
Money may not be EVERYTHING but it is an important aspect to life.
Can you buy your groceries without $$?

Niks, there is really a hufe difference between putting food on the table and putting food PLUS all the latest games, toys, trips, camps, activities, Jimmy-choo shoes, waterford crystal, lenox china - yadayada. KWIM? Theres reality and then theres greed. I mean, bless those few of us who do actually have those things but really you dont need 'em to be happy and if you think that you DO then you will never be happy

Well greed is a negative desire. Having control over one's desires is the name of the game.
Alhamdulillah, I am happy, Mamaof3. I have been blessed with enough for my family. One thing I can say is that when you have a little extra, you can do a little extra...like this year, my husband, Masha'Allah, was able to donate some money to our local Masjid which is under construction. A few years ago it may not have been possible. I guess in the end, it all boils down to our niyat...and our control.
TB, dont get me wrong, I mean I am so lucky to have a hubby who earns an income that allows some of the "latest"....and we tend to go for the latest things that will enable us to more fully enjoy our long road trips - like "leapster learning" computers for all 3 to play while we drive and drive and our dvd player that we play movies on when we have a 3 day drive.
But we dont NEED those things kwim? We'd still have a lovely time camping and looking out the windows on our trips - maybe we wouldnt choose to drive across the entire country without the "extras" but we'd still have a great time.
