A Strangers Impact...

Okay so at the risk of this making me sound real childish and.. plain weird, here goes.

So yesterday I went to this awesome Coldplay concert, stupidly enough my friend and I failed to realise that getting back would be an absolute mission. There were upwards of 40 000 people there.. at a packed out stadium and all these people had to get home after :smack: So we waited in a taxi queue for over 2 hours.. in the end we were desperately trying to find a taxi as it was 1am now and our parents were going to kill us.
So we finally get a taxi, and it’s an uncle who tells us he’s gonna charge us something stupid like £70 to get us home and we’re like  So we were like no :snooty: WRONG MOVE. It seems every uncle around was planning on making the most of the opportunity to rob us!
So… just as we were giving up hope and going to get in to the next available taxi.. regardless of the cost, we find one and get in. Now this was another Pakistani guy, probably mid 20s - early 30s, very very polite and tells us its £45. We were like wow.

Anyhow we’re there discussing how badly our parents are gonna kill us, and asking him to get us home ASAP.. and then conversation stemmed. This guy was EXTREMELY well spoken and articulate. My friend and I were both quite shocked that someone like him would be driving a taxi.. because well, it’s uncommon around here. He then started speaking in Urdu and his Urdu was just as good… I was just like oh boy. Quite frankly we were like  Anyhow he was reassuring us and talking about life in general and well it was refreshing to have such a decent, intellectual, and enlightening conversation with a total stranger (at like 1.30am :smack:). He even offered to speak to my dad to reassure him we were safe and on our way back

To the point now.. both my friend and I were utterly bewitched by this guys charm, his personality, his conversation.. everything. As we were stepping out of the taxi he said thanks and that he really enjoyed speaking to us, and that he would pray we didn’t get into too much trouble

As soon as he drove off my friend and I were like DAMNNNNN. He was sooooooooooooo nice. Like just not a person you could expect to meet everyday and we were/are absolutely gutted we have no means of contact with him now. Like we won’t ever see him again :hinna: (I know I know, its lame.. he’s ‘just’ the driver of a taxi we got :bummer:) .. but its hard to explain.

So have any of you guys ever been in a situation where you’ve come across someone that you’ve really hit it off with but it’s not been possible.. to find a way to ever see/speak to them again :hmmm:

Re: A Strangers Impact...

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Why do you wanna meet him again? :faizy:

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Re: A Strangers Impact...

Ouch. Didn't they contact you?

Re: A Strangers Impact...

p.s. you went coldplay concert!? :(

Re: A Strangers Impact…

You should’ve taken down his taxi ka number.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Are you trying to take the mick  I’m being damn darn serious here and sharing my woes of last night sniff sniff

Yes I did :mocking: Just out.of.this.world. Utter AWESOMENESS. Chris live is just wowowow.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

I knowwwwwww :crying: Why didn’t I. I actually have his taxi firm number but us ke saath kya karu  I can’t just phone them up, and ask for his number :rotfl: They would think I’m a freak :hinna: I don’t know his name.. or his registration number.. just that he’s Pakistani and from Multan. And he’s been to a Bon Jovi concert. And we even talked about Inzi

Re: A Strangers Impact...

I know what are you talking about. Couple of incidents, both during long haul flights.

I met this uncle (on Los Angles to Tokyo flight) and this girl on (Los Angles - London - Karachi flight). I regret not taking their contact information. There was a click right there. It was as if, they understand me and I understand them from the word go. Both were funny yet realistic intellectuals and knew how to listen to other's view point and yet convey their own. Really enjoyed their company.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

No :(. Shayed unse bhi ghum gaya ho yar phir… :teary1:
Lols.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

yes i was taking the michael haha xP

and SHUTUP i hate you :frowning:

Re: A Strangers Impact…

You seem really surprised by meeting a decent educated individual driving a taxi. Its a common thing to find an engineer driving a cab in NYC.

You can easily make 20 K more and you have your own schedule. You can go on vacation anytime you want. Some guys just drive taxi for 6 months and go back to Pak for 6 months. Its not like they cudnt find a job. These guys have left engineering jobs to drive taxi.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Yeah totally. The thing is as soon as he was driving off we were like contemplating waving at him to stop so we could. But we didn’t. I regret it. Oh well, such is life I guess. :hinna:

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Call the taxi company and say u you left ur watch in his taxi- You can give some info and they wud provide rest.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

You should take a cab everyday from now on…you might come across him again.

Why don’t I get to meet any decent strangers? It’s either Arabs or Mirpuri aunties. :grumpy:

Once I did meet a nice couple (Libyan man and his convert wife) while doing grocery shopping and quickly invited them over to my house.

Re: A Strangers Impact...

Perhaps, of course I'm just speaking of my own experiences in the UK and I've never come across someone educated driving a cab before.. but of course I understand it could be a common occurrence.. just one I haven't encountered myself.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

Re: A Strangers Impact…

:hmmm: The thing is I caught the cab from a rank.. so they won’t know which driver it is. So they would probably have to announce it on their inter-radio thing :hinna: And he won’t know unless he’s listening :bummer: I’m tempted though.

Re: A Strangers Impact…

I got the cab from Coventry. I don’t ever go there for any other reason usually though so :frowning:

Yeah this is the first time I’ve met someone THIS decent lol. Mirpuri aunties :rotfl: uff.
