I have accepted a position this week with an international company as Staffing Manager, working from their headquarters location based in NJ. Although the company is located a bit farther than my current job is, it is a nice step up from what I currently do with respect to HR. The positiont is obviously paying more $, there is also a chance to earn a 15% bonus, and tremendous growth potential. Another exciting aspect of the position is that I will get to travel to their China manufacturing plant (one of several that the company has worldwide) to staff that facility.
I am giving my 2 weeks notice on Monday. My gut tells me it won’t go down well with current management (the fact that I am leaving) but at the end of the day, I have to do what is best for me.
This is ironic as I should be the one with all the answers re: everything remotely related to the HR field but how would you guys give notice? What would you say/do? How? When would you “clean out your desk”, etc.?
^ Fayz, I doubt that will happen as the owners are pretty stingy with $ at my current place of employment but if that WAS to happen, I would still move on. Bottom-line: there is no growth potential here for me.
I guess, any guppie who has ever contemplated a manufacturing job in Shanghai should contact you now. I am sure you will put in a good word for your friends.
Anyway, I’m really happy for you Sweetiepie. MashAllah good news.
So were you applying to other jobs while at your current job. I think it would be so much fun to travel. I hope everything works out for you.
I am surprised that you are surprised. Friend in need is a friend indeed. The poor guy probably just wants to get married to a nice Chinese lady. We should all help him, and not put him down. tsk tsk
