A small History quiz - Part 1

The first seven largest countries in the world are Russia,Canada,U.S.A,China,Brazil,Australia and India.

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

Well its 75% muslim...so kinda okay. Right ?

I just need an excuse to justify it . 75% muslim population is good enough no ?

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

^If that's the case India is a Hindu country.......(80.5%) but it is a secular nation.......

Nepal recently ddeclared it Secular. But more than 80% are Hindus..........

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

So if I was ask whats the most populous Hindu country...what would be the answer?

I think India pretty much.

We could get very particular I guess..

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

^ India ,you can not call a Hindu country but it is a secular state. You can not call any state relating to any religion unless it has officially said so.Turkey is another example. It is not a Muslim country ,though Islam is the predominant religion. You need to go as per the constitution declaration.

That's why I said Nepal is not a Hindu country.

As of now there is NO Hindu country in the world.

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

So on that technicality kyrgyzstan should not be counted as a muslim country at all?

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

^ No .Kyrgyzstan is a secular country.

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

No the kyrgyztani people are not happy with the government more than 70% want Islamic state,
but the government has U.S backing and will boil anybody caught asking for a regime change, seriously the sentnce is boiling in oil if i remember correctly.

if we go by democracy in it's purest form it is an Islamic state as is Uzbekistan and Tajikistan too, they just have rulers like Sadam Hussien except unlikely of regime change there.

So on that technicality Kyrgystan is an Isalmic state. Since a good portion of it's peoples make up thier own laws along Islamic lines. Just becuase they are ruled by curropt and vile despots dosen't make them a secular state, that is what we are supposed to think.

I'm in Turkmenistan @ the moment and apparently this is an secular state like Turkey, but everything here is governerned by Islam so it is secular in name only.

Unlike India Kyrgystan is a nation of mainly one peoople, they are predominantly muslim, therefore no matter how many despots call it secular it is secular only in name, the peolpe are governed by Islamic law first and thus it is an Islamic state.

It doesn't matter what it says on paper, you don't want to argue this point with a Kyrgystani horseman as they are closely related to the Naiman turks and if they are anything to go by you'll end up as meat for thier hunting eagles if you try to persuade them to accept a secular state. Tis a shame so many of them are illiterate and simple folk who probably never voted in thier life. If they had proper elections then we would see.

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

faris, didnt kyrgyzstan recently deny US a base and land route to afghanistan? i think their secularism stems more from decades under commi russia more than any desire to appease the west.

May be that's the reality ,as you mentioned.but it does not corroborate the official version.Officially it remains as a secular nation.Internal disputes and matters are different. They come in to play only when there is a coup to oust the present government. In that case Pro-Islamic people can declare it an Islamic state.but otherwise the whole world will call it a secular state. :)

In Nepal, almsot the same situation prevails. It was declared Secular under the pressure from Maoists but people still regard it as a Hindu country. But we have no other option but to call it as secular, since that's the official version.

too easy fayax :naraz:

  • afghanistan

  • karachi

  • ottoman empire??

  • russia

  • neil armstorng

P.S: no matter wat u do we’ll never be happy with ur prformance as a mod :snooty: j/k :hehe:

yeah i know its too tough but keeping in view all the googling available, I thought its appropriate

re: A small History quiz - Part 1

afghanistan isn't a landlocked country if you look at some of the maps afghans draw LOL ;-)
