I can try to understand what the Imam was saying. Another anology would be not to keep valuables in open view in a car, as it would tempt people to break in. No big drama there.

On the other hand women have the right in western societies to dress as they please or even be naked on a say beach. It does not give people the right to rape women.

People are implying that the imam is condoling the rapists and blaming the women for the rapes. However the imam is not saying that all he is saying is that temptation is part of the equation. I think people are reading too much into it.

Well you have to consider also the fact there is a great difference in interpretation of the word "Meat" as used by the Shiekh who is of Middle Eastern Origin and refering to "carnivorous animal food" and of those whose language is English where a Brothel is considered a "Meat Market" hence a derogatory term for Women of ill repute.

Nahin Bhai I checked with my arab collegues, meat is called "laham" in arabic. And in slang not properly covered woman is called "laham " in egypt. So Molvi sahib knew what he was talking about.

BTW another word which I am told used by youngters in egypt is "Ya Qishtaa" or "The Cream" or Malai in urdu.

your right, most rape and murder crimes do occur among people who know each other, point taken. my comments were regarding this women agreeing with the essence of the imams message. do you think society can do anything to 'prevent' rapes in the first place if anything? or why this women agreed with the imam?

i have read your earlier post and disagree with you calling someone a 'slapper' this term is for sexual predators. i know its common but certainly out of place in this thread

btw religious leaning is a coincidence, i cant claim to know the religious point of view. its only oppinionated views which fortunately align.

Cindy Taylor's comments might have been more believable; if the Imam hadnt used the following words during his address;

'*.. then you get a judge without mercy...and gives you 65 years'. *he was not only sympathising with arab rapists, he was laying the blame on the woman.

You forget the Mufti is in a position of authority, he cant get away with saying what he likes in which ever manner he wants. He has to be more responsible then the average joe.

This is a silly chauvinistic way of looking at things. Definitely not the way most people think. A woman has every right to show whatever she wants to show. If it’s inappropriate, law enforcement are there to take care of it. But noone else has the right to touch the person. There can be many reasons why a woman wants to reveal flesh, one reason being when it gets very warm, they don’t want to feel stuffy or hot. This is a completely valid reason and one cannot, simply cannot, justify that she is doing this to garner attention or is asking to be raped. It’s ridiculous and chauvinistic and pathetic frankly. Even in the winter when it can get, there is no way to justify a person touching a slapper under these conditions.

We live in a heterosexual world and those women dress are made in a sense to attract the heterosexual society so to say they are not trying to attract is a silly statement to make.

Here is the whole situation; this imam is not what most people are making him out to be. According to only person that met he, this woman, says that he is a wonderful person and what he said was not to offend anyone. According to her, it is just a blooper and so why most people are over here do not take it as it is.

Seems to me they are the ones with prejudice.
