i knw i shud be asking every1 but i want answers from sum1 who knows better.
so we all know that drinking water is neccesary and drinking LOTS of water is very beneficial to our health. like i hear from all beauty freaks that u shud atleast drink 2 litres of water or more for beautiful and healthy skin.
u tell them ur problem and the answer u get is “drink water!” its like water is their medicine for every skin problem
but i have heard from many doctors that its jst an urban myth. u should not drink too much water and u shudnt leave u rbody to get deydrated too. so jst a moderate amount is ok. and the amount of water our body needs is different for every person. sum ppl feel more thirsty than others so u shud drink water when u feel thirsty and shud not bloat urself with water.
and its not always 2 litres of water sum ppl can live on less than 2 litres too
and they say that skin is the last organ to recieve water so its not like all the skin related problems can be cured by drinking water.
Not only its an urban myth, its also crept into mentality of some doctors.
I have been teaching it to my residents recently, the minimum amount of water required for body is 470 ml, that is less than half a litre, most humans take 1.5 L per day which is three times the minimum requirement.
Thirst has served humanity for millions of years, trust it.
I'm not a doctor but I went to a dermatologist only a few days ago and she said water is very important for skin.
Even if the skin is the last organ to receive water.....at least the water you drink is helping your other organs (liver, kidneys, brain) to work efficiently. Your organs are made up of water and the liver and kidneys will work better to remove toxins from your body than can potentially cause acne or dryness.
I personally feel that my skin looks better when I drink more water as opposed to when I don't. There is however a danger in drinking too much water. I've heard it creates an imbalance of electrolytes that can be dangerous.
She didn't tell me how much water to drink. However, there is a website where the amount of water you need to drink can be calculated. And I think your weight figures into the occasion as well. If you work out, then you need more water than if u didn't.
this is the excessive water drinkers bashing thread, plz go away
yeah its .25 litre/10 kg body weight. but again theres no study that shows drinking excessive water is the only and most efficient way of treating skin problems.
^It's not the only way to treat skin problems. But it can't hurt either. Water is necessary for the efficient working of your body. Water is not the be all/ end all solution. Healthy skin involves a holistic approach which requires a nutritious diet, avoiding alcohol and smoking, reducing stress, reducing sun exposure, applying sun block, exercising, using appropriate skin products, and getting sufficient sleep. I don't think anybody ever said water is the ONLY way to treat skin conditions. But it can't hurt either unless u overdo it. There are people who eat healthy and drink plenty of water but don't apply sunscreen and at a young age, they have wrinkly skin. It depends on many factors. Our organs are made up of water. We are dependent upon it's survival. It is said that by the time you feel thirsty, you're actually dehydrated.
One reason why some people don't feel that thirsty is because many of the foods we eat naturally contain water. Fruits and veggies, for example, contain a lot of water. Soups contain water, etc. Colas on the other hand are dehydrating, they suck up the water in your body. And for every can of soda you consume, you should compensate it with 2 glasses of water.
For some people, water does wonders for their skin. For other people, it might not be as effective because they may not be focusing on other areas such as diet and sleep. For me, water helps. When I went to the derm, with the help of a special mirror, she could actually see what areas on my face were dehydrated. My skin tends to get better when I go to Pakistan because I drink loads of water there.....thanks to the hot summers and load shedding.
Its a misconeception that drinking a lot of water helps kidneys, liver or heart, it does not and studies have shown it.
Now people who claim that there skin appears better when they drink a lot of water it could for one of these reasons
1- They are convinced that water makes skin healthy and thus when they drink they just feel their skin is better, “placebo effect”
2- If you drink too much water, your face will become puffy, some of teh wrinkes may smoothen out, colour of skin will become less dark and hence the feeling that skin looks better.
3- Bottled water in some places has been found to contain chemicals that mimic female sex hormones, estrogen, which increases water content of skin and gives a freshened up look.
yaani case closed. it doesnt do anything like they say.
yeah can be.
i had svere acne in teenage so they asked me to drink water for it and eat healthy and bla bla but it never made any difference now im 21 its gone automatically like my mom said it’ll go away once u get old. and my doc once gave me those hormone balancing pills it helped for a while but nuthing else helped. its jst if i drink too much water i only see more puffiness under my eyes and my face looks swollen so yeah ur right that it makes ur face look swolen and give illusion of reduced wrinkles. if they call it healthy glow then errrrrrrr… and i never saw any colour change
interesing. so if ur bottled water doesnt have these chemicals then ur jst being clowned?
