so what about the gora men that molest lil children and rape women? sure they dont make it obvious they are "oogling" but they sure as hell show em.
im sorry i know this is a generalized statement....but i truly hate when ppl point fingers at one particular race and accuse them of being a certain way. All races have their good and bad characteristics.
Also keep in mind....being "oogled" at may not be the norm in the west which is why we find it disgusting.....but out in pak women dont even care....they just ignore it and walk on by cuz they are used to it. It's all about what u are accustomed 2.
you know, this is so true...i have found gora people far more refined than our pakistani own bhaai...in pakistan or even out of pakistan, they gawk at women as if those women are from another planet...and they wouldn;t take their gaze ooff you until u make a really stern lo0k at them...Passing obscene comments is another norm for them! and yes, i have experienced and personally know people who have experienced those disgusting touches! Most Pakistani men are truly DESPARATE for women unlike most gora people.
I saw lot of Arabs wearing mini skirts and nobone oogle them. But instead after 9/11 people ask u different questions on wearing abaya and hijab. I still remember (it was after 2 mnths of 9/11)i went to see my friend in hostpital and i was wearing blaak abaya every single person stared at me and guard followed me to my friend's room. after that i decided to wore loose fitting clothes and hijab.
A hijaaban gal will raise as many eyebrows in Manhattan as a gal in a mini-skirt and spike heels (or possibly even more!)
As a curiosity, sure. As a sex-object...I doubt it. Fetish aside, let's be real here: men like to see flesh. Period. End of story. It really is that simple.
And unh...women don't wear mini-skirts because of their comfort or some sense of barrier they provide. "Hellooo, look at me...somebody...anybody...pleeeeasssee....". Women started dressing like this after the what? Everybody in unison now...the sexual revelotion. Dressing down is for one reason only...do we really have to be so open minded about this that we end up with empty minds?
In any case, I have a feeling that those girls in our community who do dress as such, probably do so because their friends do...and there really is no more thought put into it than that. Basically, their freinds approval override the approval of their family/culture. So how would our feeling anything on the matter change this? We can hate the symptom...even take action as siblings/parents/whatever to end the symptom...but it's too little too late as far as the cause is concerned.
Not necessarily. Skirts can look nice. I don't know about mini-skirts, but I love those skirts that come to your knees. They look great. If I were to wear a skirt, that would be my reason. To make myself feel good wearing something that I like and makes me look nice. Not to get attention for it. Its pretty shallow thinking if you think women dress only to get male attention. We have to dress as it is, might as well look nice when doing so.
^ Skirts are nice, he’s talking abt miniskirts though.
I kinda have to agree w/ him, seriously, why miniskirts in the dead of winter? I see girls in school like that, it’s like wtf make up ur mind, ur cold (wearing a sweatshirt and gloves and scarf) or you’re hot (miniskirt).
What makes this tricky is that it's a norm based on sexual liberation and the promiscuity it engenders...something that entirely contradicts our own subculture's values.
There's nothing historical or even functional about the mini-skirt and tube top, and the purpose of wearing these particular clothes is precisely to be 'sexy'.
Business casual or anything akin to it is one thing...mini skirts and tube tops were designed for a very specific purpose, no matter what the wearer thinks.
I could care less what anyone wears…girls/ladies in our family don’t dress like that anyways…
Oh i know..that happened to me too…i went to a market in Quetta..and this pervert…purposely bumped into me THREE times! I had some shopping bags in my hands, so when he did that the third time, i turned around and hit him with my bags, and literally ran from there to get my chacha. The shopkeepers were looking at me but i didn’t care.
I used to carry pepper spray with me, but once my dad told me not to..so i stopped…and then this incident took place, and i so wished i had it with me…uss stupid ko maza chakhati…
I think you get stared at far less in the U.S. then you do in other places. I travelled to South America and boy do those guys know how to STARE!! You can't even feel a little bit happy from the attention because you know they do it to everybody.
I don't know that guys don't see covered girls as sex-objects. Men like a mystery, no? They think "Well I wish I could find out what's under there"....
