A question to all book lovers

What do you book lovers do with books once you’ve read them? Do you have a small library at home or do you give them away?
If you keep them, do you read them again? Or is it just in your collection gathering dust?

Re: A question to all book lovers

I have a small library at home....4 tall bookshelves right now. I do reread my favorites..several times over. I also love to lend out books to friends and family that I think they will enjoy.

I keep them... used to lend books to friends but they would never return after having finished reading them, so I no longer do that. Would love to have a mini library of my own (in a spare room) one day.

Re: A question to all book lovers

same here.

Re: A question to all book lovers

Wow.
I almost never re-read. The few books I had, I put them in the recycle.

Re: A question to all book lovers

what do you mean by recycle? raddi wala?

Re: A question to all book lovers

keep the keepers.
Give other to library.

Re: A question to all book lovers

No. I mean in paper trash bin :(

Re: A question to all book lovers

I should've given to the library too :(
Do you re read the keepers?

Re: A question to all book lovers

I have not really read them over.
But even looking at them make happy :)

I will read them eventually, just too busy with other stuff.

Re: A question to all book lovers

There are only a few that I have reread. But I like having a library and in my case I take my own collection of books from home and use them in my classroom library. I haven't bought books in a long time though; I've maxed out shelf space. :/

Re: A question to all book lovers

I do not read the same book again. The 'intrigue' factor is gone the second time. The only one I re-read was 'Gone with the Wind'. I recycle.

Re: A question to all book lovers

Whenever i get chance i read my favorite books again and every time i find some thing new in that book e.g. Raja Gidh, Ali Pur Ka Aili etc

Re: A question to all book lovers

I hoard them.

Re: A question to all book lovers

It depends greatly on the impact the book has on my psyche......I used to hold onto them until my library grew to a size that I simply could not justify.

Now I try to give them away to people that I know will read and enjoy them or, more often than not, donate them to the local public library or school.

Until last summer I was holding on to ammi's urdu novels and books on deen/iman. I realized I was not making use of them like she used to and was hanging on simply for sentimental reasons. I finally worked up the courage to deliver them to the local library with an inscription inside the cover showing her name so that the knowledge could be shared and perhaps she may receive some reward through it.

Re: A question to all book lovers

My house is littered with books. Almost in every room.

Re: A question to all book lovers

I have always wanted to have a room that is lined, wall to wall with bookshelves so that I can keep all the ones that I have read and cherish. I just can’t justify it.

Re: A question to all book lovers

I also want and old fashioned table and chair in the middle of such room.
And when/if I grow smart, I want a writing/black board on one wall as well.

Re: A question to all book lovers

I keep them… Have given some away but only the ones I weren’t bothered about… Don’t tend to read them again tbh… But might do years later…

Sort of like movies … Sometimes it’s nice to watch something you only saw once ages ago…

Re: A question to all book lovers

I keep them. And it’s not just a collection gathering dust, they are my most priced possessions. I even lend them to my friends for reading it, and ask them to write a little review on a sticky note on how they liked the book and stick them to the last page of my novel. I will pass them on to my kids some day. All these books.
