A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

From what I understand, the Ahmadiyya Jamaat believes that prophethood continues and will continue till the End of Times.

what I want to know is then, why the need to create a whole separate ‘sect’ or ‘jamaat’ for one of these proceeding Prophets to Prophet Muhammad?

IF according to belief there are going to be numerous Prophets all reaffirming what Prophet Muhammad brought as the Shariah, why create divisions at each one’s arrival?

Can u imagine the shape of Islam at the end.. it could very well be thousands of little sects each rejoicing in the fact that they recognized or embraced the latest prophet… which leads me to part two of my question.

Why haven’t there been any proclaimers of Prophethood post the demise of Ghulam Ahmed? surely if the premise is true there should have been many other Prophets, a fact which would have sealed (pardon the use) the argument in Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya’s favor once and for all.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

^ Additionally, when is the next prophet expected?\

PS: I can remove this question if you don't like it here PA.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Well I don't think anyone knows or Jamaat-e-Ahmidyaa claims to know the frequency with which Allah sends his Prophts.. I just thought that for now the two questions in my post needed an answer or some kind of rationalization

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

well it makes more logic and sense when u place ghulam ahmed alongside musailma, taleiha, sajja' etc....

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Allah chooses prophets among men whenever He Wills. This is the proclamation of Holy Quran.

Secondly, all prophets bring the authority to decide right from wrong. This authority of Hakam and Adal and the quality of Tazkiyah (or cleansing) is bound to seperate the believers from the rejectors in clear terms.

As Quran has clarified that Truth prevails and ignorance and darkness fades away with advent of messengers, this leaves us with the conlusion that rejectors are in majority first but due to their fundamental mistake of rejecting the truth, they inflict upon themselves trials and retributions which cause their extinction.

As for the question of prophethood, I as an Ahmadi believe that only prophet prophecised in Quran and Hadith was the Promised Messiah (as). But the door of Divine communication is open and renewers of faith mujaddideen and muhaditheen will come within the Ahmadiyya Jamaat whenever God wills.

Destino
can you please provide some references..........
you said"darkness fades away with the advent of prophets"
then why there is so much fitnah, ignorance and darkness in the present world "in the presence of your prophet (Asrar Ahmed)?

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

It took three hundred years for earlier muslims to take the light of islam to the known world. Yet there was much darkness, violence, falsehood outside islamic world.

AS for references, common sense is a good reference. But if you want Quranic verses do look up the verse Jaa'al Haqqu.. which was revealed on the conquest of Makkah.

Jamaat Ahmadiyya is the only haven for the straight thinking rational and peace loving humans in the world. Nothing else can save them but the true teachings of islam. You live for today, that is why you can ask questions like above. We believe in the Will of Allah and are working towards the time when there will be no transgression in the world. InshaAllah.

BTW, you need to get some more information about Ahmadiyyat. Go to the official website..www.alislam.org

let us see the verses for these…

First few verses of Surah Al- Juma

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Peace Destino

Forgive me for my brash statement earlier ... I know that the Ahmadiyya leaders are called Khalifatul Masih and are not considered prophets ...

The verses that you have quoted do not indicate more prophets are going to be sent. The prophet Muhammad (SAW) is sent for his own people those around them and to the rest of the world. Verse 3 states that 'others among them' were also in "manifest error" as stated in verse 2 ... There is no indication of another prophet.

As for straight thinking ... there is a mulitude of reasons why the Ahmadiyya perspective is against the tenets of Islam.

The Ahmadiyya philosophy is a utopian one ... where an eventual aim is to be achieved through a gradual process. This rejects the nature of Islam, which does not claim perfection through progressive action. It is simply the best and optimum state when implemented correctly. That is a different issue.

The most obvious shortfalls in the idea of perpetual prophethood is as thus:
We need to note:

1) Why was Mirza Ghulam Ahmad the last ... what did he achieve that Muhammad (SAW) did not?
2) The risaal of a prophet should be in his own language
3) Every messenger is a prophet but not every prophet is a messenger ...
4) Test what is said ... does hold truth?
5) The mechanism prescribed for the survival of Jesus (AS) is questionable
6) And so much more ... including ... The seal of the prophets is clear in meaning

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

they just tell us that a prophet (i.e. Muhammad (Saw)) has been sent to the people to teach them Quran and to purify them, and his prophethood is not limited to only these but also to those who have not yet come and those who are not among them (i.e. arabs)…
in other words it confirms finality and universality of the prophethood of Muhammad (saw)…

u can use these verses to show that Muhammad (saw) is a prophet not only for arabs but also for non-arabs and those who will come after him…

so in other words they just nulify the notion of another prophet coming after him…

so how do u get from these that some other prophet is going to come???

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Holy Prophet (saw) explained to his companions that according to these verses, a person of Persian origin will bring back the faith even if it had gone to the stars. This a sahih Hadith.

But you have every right to believe whatever you want to. I follow the words of God and his messenger.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

i have'nt heard of that hadith...can you give reference for this"sahih hadith"?

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Hareem,

Thanks for your questions.

I will try to summarize my answers rather than go into elaborate details.

a. We have the prophecies of a Promised Hakam and Adal Messiah who will be the Imam of Muslims.

b. We have the promise of Quran that Islam will prevail. This is along with the prophecy that Gog and Magog will appear to destroy the civilization.

c. We have the Ahadith clearly stating the state of muslims in latter days, the solution which is in the form of a person who will lead them and also will receive revelation.

d. Revelation can be of different types, but if a person receives revelations to ask for allegiance of the people (to be their imam) than it cant be anyone else but a Nabi.

e. Not all Nabis bring new laws.

f. Islam is a progressive religion. Quran was revealed for mankind until the end of times. Hence its inerpretations can be discovered or revealed to the chosen servants of Allah (swt) in time.

g. Islam once implemented during the time of Holy Prophet (saw), allowed slavery, but it was the progression of islam which abolished slavery forever.

h. The language of post-industrialization era in not one, but two or three or even four for a civilization. Arabs only knew Arabic. Whereas indian muslims knew three languages. sanskrit and English excluding.

i. Jesus (as) was not a unique case of survival. Jonah (Yunus) as survived in the belly of a fish. Now that is something implausible even in this day and age.
The foot engraving in Srinagar shows the scars of a crucified person. We can't declare it a fabrication by any standards.

j. The title of Khatamun Nabiyyeen gives all aurhtority and supremecy to Holy Prophet (saw). It will be really strange if there was none among his spiritual progeny to attain Divine communication unless it is believed that Holy Prophet (saw) closed the door of Wahi and Ilhaam. Which will be even a more strange thing to believe.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Abu Huraira reported: We were sitting in the company of Allah's Apostle (SAW) that Sura al-Jumu'a (of The Qur'an) was revealed to him and when he recited: "Others from amongst them who have not yet joined them", (and) a person amongst them (who were sitting there) said: "Allah's Messenger!" But Allah's Apostle (SAW) made no reply, until he questioned him once, twice or thrice. And there was amongst us Salman the Persian. The Apostle of Allah (SAW) placed his hand on Salman and then said: "Even if faith were near the Pleiades [Star Cluster], a man from amongst these (Persians) would surely find it." Sahih Muslim 31.6178

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

Destino you didn't answer my questions.

I'm not challenging the opinion that there may be more prophets.. The way some verses can be interpreted, one can understand that there is some room for that theory.

BUT my questions remain.. why create a new sect at the arrival of each and every one of these people who are basically only reaffirming what Prophet Muhammad brought?

AND why hasn't any prophets proclaimed prophethood post Ghulam Ahmed?

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

The very first line in my post was answer to your Question. A prophet will come if there is need of one. When will that need arrive. Depends on how steadfast and true the Jamaat remains in its mission.

And if a person claims to be divinely guided, he can not call himself a prophet, but only a mujaddid or Muhaddith. Promised Messiah (as) took the title of prophet only because ahadith indicated him to be a prophet.

It is my assumption on the basis of a hadith in which holy prophet (saw) told his companions about the sequence of events to come. And when he came to Khilafat Ala minhaaje Nabuwwat he did not speak of anything else to come afterwards. This can only mean that this khilafat will remain until the end of days after the advent of Messiah. Khilafat is a blessing as it indicates the mautrity of the Jamaat and its ability to progress without occurance of disputes and schisms. I believe that Ahmadiyya Khulafa will be the mujaddideen and muhaditheen of their times if and when God wills.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

hmmm isn't there a hadees that says there are no more prophets to come?

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

But they can easily prove "the sequence of events" which was predicted by Prophet PBUH after which "a prophet" will show up, age, location and what not. So if I'm pretty sure they CAN "predict" next oncoming prophet when and where.

Re: A Question for members of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat

In Quran Allah swt said the Prophet PBUH was for people to come, but you take hadith to prove otherwise? :konfused:
