Re: A Pakistani Girl
Who blamed the guys for anything in this thread? You and Harappan in the beginning of this thread totally made light of this issue. This is why I pointed out the difference of opinion between female and male posters. While female posters immediately saw this to be an issue that occurs commonly, the male posters simply didn’t think it happened or wasn’t that serious if it did. After you and Harappan, the other male members continued with similar comments. Just go back to the first two pages and read the responses! And yes, I was utterly confused as to why this offended men even though the antagonist character was the Dadi in the blog. There was no blaming any men. It was simply pointed out how male children were preferred over female children and that’s no surprise. A woman could spend an entire lifetime to prove herself but still won’t deserve the same respect as men of the family do just for being men. This is the hypocrisy, this is the double standard I was talking about. The less strong ones turn to cutting, self-abuse, and low self-esteem but the majority do whatever it takes to prove their worth yet it’s never enough.
